ON THIS DAY

On this date in 1647, the very first recorded execution of a witch by hanging took place in Massachusetts. Anything that happened before this didn't count, because they weren't recorded. Except, of course, to the witch. The judge cracked himself up when he said, "We're going to hang you, but only for a spell. Get it? A spell?"

In 1919, the first pop up toaster was invented by Charles Strite of Minnesota.
  • While the people on the second floor appreciated the toast, it was obvious the device needed a little fine tuning.
  • You can imagine how useless Pop Tarts were up until that time.
  • It quickly replaced the toaster cannon, which made great toast, but it could kill you with it.
  • It allowed kids to practice catching pop flies and have breakfast at the same time.

On this date in 1929, Charles Lindbergh married Anne Spencer Morrow... even though she had heard he was "flighty."

In 1933, Walt Disney's Academy Award-winning animated short "The Three Little Pigs" was first released. Don't tell me how it ends, I'm reading the book.
