Overnight closure on Interstate 19 at Irvington Road scheduled this weekend

Northbound Interstate 19 will be closed overnight at Irvington Road beginning 11 p.m. Sunday, April 30, through 3 a.m. Monday, May 1, for overhead sign work. Drivers will be routed east on Irvington Road, north on Sixth Avenue and back onto I-10.

The work is part of a $40 million project to replace the existing traffic interchange at I-19 and Ajo Way with a modern single-point urban interchange. The project is expected to be complete by spring 2018.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information site at www.az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.

For more information about this project, please call Paki Rico, ADOT senior community relations officer, at 520.388.4233 or email prico@azdot.gov or visit the website at http://azdot.gov/ajoway.
