Katy Perry, is that an engagement ring we see?! It's certainly a massive diamond on your left ring finger... Nothing has been confirmed yet but Katy wasn't shy of showing off a visible ring as she shield herself from the paps in Cannes Tuesday. Surely, she's hasn't "accidentally" placed it on THAT finger? Despite rumors that Selena Gomez and Orlando Bloom got cozy in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, Bloom and Perry have proved they're totally unphased during their French vacation. The pair have recently spent a romantic few days on a yacht in the South of France and, Tuesday enjoyed lunch with Kate Hudson in Cannes. Bloom could literally no keep his hands or lips of Perry. A star-studded affair the trio were also joined by Kate Moss and Russian entrepreneur Dasha Zhukova - wife of billionaire Roman Abramovich. (British Glamour)
Mariah Carey Sets the Record Straight on the Rumors Surrounding Her Wedding -- Does She Want Circus Animals? Mariah Carey wants to clear the air on some of the wild rumors surrounding her upcoming wedding. During Tuesday night's Watch What Happens Live, the Las Vegas performer made a grand entrance into the Bravo clubhouse where host Andy Cohen couldn't help but ask a few questions about her upcoming nuptials to James Packer. "Will there be a prenup?" Andy asked. "You're both very valuable." "We want prenup. We want prenup," Mariah replied when remembering Kanye West's song lyrics to "Gold Digger." "Look, everybody's valuable." As for reports that she wants a circus-themed wedding, Mariah wanted to set the record straight that she would never want such a thing. "No, that really made me mad. These people really want to tell me I want endangered animals at my wedding?" she asked. "I mean, I have several dogs." Mariah reiterated that the reports were ridiculous later in the show when she joked, "I'm such an animal lover and such an advocate for animals that I'm like, really, that's what I'm going to do, have like endangered species? Should I make coats from them all? What else should we do?" As for a possible best man, Andy was quick to nominate Brett Ratner who helped introduce Mariah to her fiance. So what does she think? "Let's not talk about that anymore," Mariah shared with a smile on her face while touching her hair. "I like that, but I'm not going to say anything else." (Eonline)
Our GLAMOUR cover star Kylie Jenner has reportedly moved on from her ex, Tyga, and is dating PartyNextDoor. Yes, PartyNextDoor - THAT is his name. Well, it's not his real name - he also goes by Jahron Brathwaite. We're taking this with a pinch of salt, and really we only love the story because of his name 'PartyNextDoor', but according to The Sun: "Their relationship started quite suddenly but it just feels right. "They are mad for each other. "She doesn't know why she wasted time with Tyga. Kylie's family found the eight-year age gap with Tyga a bit weird, especially as they got together before she turned 18 last year. "PartyNextDoor is much better as he's only four years older than her." Last week, the Canadian rapper shared a picture on Instagram of his and Kylie's jewel-encrusted watches, with the caption: "Diamond battles with @kyliejenner (sic)" We hope this isn't the only thing connecting their romance, because if it is, must try harder. Zac Efron Talks Sobriety, Family Life and Why He's OK With Getting Naked on Screen. Zac Efron has come a long way since his early Disney days in High School Musical, so much so that the actor told Elle magazine that he's happy to bare it all if a role is worth it. "Let's just say I'm not opposed to anything," he told the women's fashion magazine. "But if you're gonna pull your dick out, it'd better be for an Academy Award-winning movie." Hear that, everyone? He's saying there's a chance... The Neighbors 2 actor also opened up about turning to his close-knit family when times were tough during his school days. "My parents love me in very different ways. But they checked every box," he began by explaining. "My dad always taught me to be driven. I was always the shortest kid at school. Always the worst kid on the team. I'd come home after practice and my dad would built a basketball hoop. Then we'd go out and shoot 100 free throws. Pretty soon, every time I got fouled I would make my free throws." The actor continued on a more serious note than his childhood, his sobriety struggles before seeking treatment back in 2013. Efron told Elle that his life has undeniably changed for the better since becoming sober, saying, "What I found is structure. That led me to a balance of opposites. You get out of life what you put in." He continued, "There was a moment when my morning routine was, like, get up and Google yourself. But that stopped, dramatically and instantly, probably three years ago. I realized that viewing yourself through other people's pictures is not living your own life. I wasn't really being myself. A lot of my hobbies had gone out the window. I couldn't skateboard or surf for fear of being followed. Crossing the line of fear is what leads to greatness." (Eonline)
Demi Lovato Was a Self-Described "Nightmare" Before Getting Sober. Demi Lovato is telling the "stone cold" truth about her battles with addiction. "I was a nightmare to work with," the 23-year-old triple threat told Refinery29 of her teenage years riddled with substance abuse. Fresh off her success as a bonafide Disney star, the Camp Rock alum had cultivated a squeaky-clean image and bubblegum sound. However, unbeknownst to the larger public, the teenager was in the midst of a rapid downward spiral behind the scenes fueled by substance abuse, addiction, bullimia and self-inflicted harm. As she told the outlet, Lovato reached a level where she "couldn't go an hour without using cocaine." As the "Confident" singer described, there was no reasoning with her. "'Try to ground me -- I pay your bills,'" she recalled telling her family. "Prior to getting sober, I was one of those people who was like, I don't give a f--k, whatever. And I used that as an excuse to do whatever I wanted." By 2010, her destructive private life and booming professional life collided when she infamously punched backup dancer Alex Welch on the Camp Rock 2 international tour with the Jonas Brothers. After a family intervention, she checked out of the tour and into rehab for three months. However, resuming life after treatment was not a seamless process, but rather, one stunted by several brief relapses. "I had to learn the hard way that I can't do parties anymore," she admitted to the website. "Some people can go out and not be triggered, but that's not the case for me." Today, the LGBT advocate is a full-fledged adult with an emotionally raw album and increasingly stronger sound. While she's focused on proving her talent beyond the average chart-topper, Lovato is also keenly aware of her naysayers. "I still have more things to prove -- not just about the things I can do with my voice," she declared. "Some people think that because I'm young, I can't stay sober. But these are things I want to prove to myself." Beyond the recording studio and sobriety, the singer has little concern for the superficial glitz and glamour of the Hollywood social calendar. "I've come to a place where I'd rather be relaxed than get all dressed up and go to some party or club with people who don't really care about my well-being at all," she admitted. That social discomfort was clear at the 2016 Met Gala, when Lovato attended for the first time clad in a Moschino by Jeremy Scott gown. However, while walking the carpet with Scott and his other date Nicki Minaj, a photo was snapped that immediately had feud rumors swirling. "This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met #cool #sof--kingawkward #notforme #sweatpants #forensicfiles #whatsgood p.s. some of y'all need to learn how to take a joke.. I'm obviously laughing at the fact that 1. I look incredibly awkward and 2. That the shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life," she wrote on Instagram a day after the gala. "I have no problem standing up for myself. Maybe I got it from growing up in Texas, but I never took shit from anybody," she told the website. "Now I know how to do it without pushing people away. You just don't approach things with a F--k You mentality. Instead it's: This is the way I'm perceiving things. There's nothing wrong with my beliefs or feelings. So let's agree to disagree, or let's just disagree." And disagree she does. When Taylor Swift pledged $250,000 to Kesha in her legal battle against music producer Dr. Luke, Lovato appeared to reply to the news with this dissatisfied tweet: "Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed." "Listen, there's nothing positive that comes from pitting women against each other. There are women that I don't get along with, and that's fine. My thing is, don't brand yourself a feminist if you don't do the work," she explained about the past scenario. "I have an immense amount of respect for women like Lena Dunham...or Beyonce, who make amazing political statements through their work." Still, when asked who she wants to be when she grows up, Lovato didn't say Lena or Queen Bey. "That's easy," she quipped. "Me." (Eonline)
Dustin Diamond Reunites With Mario Lopez to Talk About Jail, Sex Tape and Saved by the Bell Book. So about that time Screech chatted with Slater about his time in the slammer... Dustin Diamond, 39, was released from a Wisconsin jail in April after serving a shortened sentence of less than three months behind bars for misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon. He was accused of stabbing a man at a bar after his fiancee, Amanda Schutz, 27, got involved in an altercation with a woman who was allegedly harassing her and the actor. Diamond opted to give his first post-jail interview to Extra host and former Saved by the Bell co-star, Mario Lopez, 41, in an interview set to air Wednesday and Thursday. "It's pretty daunting, it's pretty scary going into that environment," he said. "I found that as long as you follow the rules and stay with the system, it works. You can get in and out unscathed. Diamond was originally sentenced to four months in jail. He also originally faced a felony charge of recklessly endangering safety, to which he pleaded not guilty and which was later dropped. Schutz was found guilty of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and given a fine. Diamond told Lopez that a woman Schutz was talking to at the bar sucker-punched her. "She leaned back to me and her face was covered in blood," he said. Diamond said a man then grabbed his fiancee by the hair. The two men then got into a physical altercation. "I opened my pocket knife and said, 'Let my wife go immediately,' which worked,'" the actor said, adding that the man ended up "nicking" his arm on the tip of his blade. During the interview, Diamond also talked about two other subjects that have gotten him back in the headlines over the years: A 2006 sex tape, titled Screeched- Saved by the Smell, and a tell-all book about his experiences on the hit '90s sitcom. Diamond had said on a 2013 episode of Oprah Winfrey's show Oprah: Where Are They Now? that he was embarrassed about the sex tape, which did not actually feature him naked, but rather a stunt double. The actor told Lopez he did it for the money, adding, "I had to take a chance. What if that thing had made $3 or 4 million?" Diamond's acting career had stalled after he starred on Saved by the Bell, TV movies based on the series and two spinoffs, Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which ended in 2000. He had documented his experiences on the original show in a 2009 tell-all book, Behind the Bell, which was adapted into a 2014 Lifetime Television Movie, The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story. Diamond told Lopez the book was written by a ghostwriter who "fabricated a whole bunch of stuff." "Imagine how I feel, I haven't talked to Mark Paul [Gosselaar] or Elizabeth [Berkley] or Tiffani [Thiessen] in ages, so I can't imagine what they think, and I'm hoping this will clear it up," he said. "It wasn't me, I didn't write this. I was just as shocked and appalled." (Eonline)
Just call her Aunt Kimmie! Kim Kardashian opened up about her brother Rob Kardashian, expecting his first child with Blac Chyna on Tuesday, May 17. "I mean, it's so exciting. It's a really exciting time for him," Kardashian, 35, told Entertainment Tonight at the de Grisogono party during the Cannes Film Festival. "I think he'll be the best dad. He's really just such a good, good person." Rob, 29, and Chyna, 28, announced their engagement in April after a couple of months of dating. Us Weekly confirmed earlier this month that they are having a baby. (Chyna is also mom of son King Cairo, 3, with ex-fiance Tyga. The rapper split from Kylie Jenner a few weeks ago.) Rob and Chyna's little one will have plenty of playmates to spend time with. The reality star's eldest sister, Kourtney Kardashian, and her ex Scott Disick share Mason, 6, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 17 months. Kim and her husband, Kanye West, are parents of North, 2, and Saint, 5 months. Chyna may be early on in her pregnancy, but Kim is already giving her little brother some parenting advice. "We give him -- I think more me -- gives him advice and it's just been a really fun time," she said, when asked if she and West, 38, have passed down any words of wisdom. "I'm really happy for them." As previously reported, Kim played a major role in her famous family accepting Chyna. "She's always been the peacemaker," a source told Us. "Rob's rehabilitation continues to astound the family," a second source added. "They really believe that it's all Chyna who is responsible for bringing him back." (US Weekly)
Mariah Carey's fiance, James Packer, can touch her body, but not her cash. "We want prenup. We want prenup," she chanted Tuesday night when asked by "Watch What Happens Live" host Andy Cohen if she and Packer, a billionaire, will have a prenup, according to E! News. "You're both very valuable," Cohen said. "Look, everybody's valuable," Carey, 46, added. She also dispelled rumors her summer wedding will be circus-themed. "No, that really made me mad," said Carey. "These people really want to tell me I wanted endangered animals at my wedding? I mean, I have several dogs." Carey also tap-danced around questions about who'll be best man after Cohen suggested her pal Brett Ratner should take the role. "Let's not talk about that anymore," she shot back. "I like that, but I'm not going to say anything else." (Page Six)
Larry David Thinks Hamilton's Success Has Been Propelled By White People Trying To Be 'Hip'! See What He Said! As usual, his enthusiasm is curbed. Lin-Manuel Miranda's smash hit Hamilton is undoubtedly the biggest sensation on Broadway these days -- setting a record number of Tony Awards nominations and even winning a Pulitzer prize! But according to Larry David, the musical's success is less due to its accolades and more because of white people trying to be "hip." On Tuesday's episode of the Mike Lucpica Show, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star admitted the hip-hop history show was "incredible" -- but has a particular "theory on a lot of the people that are seeing it." He explained: "I have a feeling there are a lot of white people who are saying they are completely blown away even though they didn't really understand half of the things the people on stage were saying. They just want to solidify their liberal bonafides and how cool they are: 'Yeah, I love Hamilton. Yeah, I get it, I'm hip.'" While we appreciate his Seinfeld-esque rant, he really needs Jerry there to tell him, "You're nuts!" After all, he says himself the show is great! Why can't it just be successful because it's so great?? Either way, we have a feeling Hamilton will go down in history as one of Broadway's biggest hits. (Perez Hilton)
Chris Brown is hilarious ... he finally got to Cannes after getting kicked off a private jet in Miami for hotboxing the plane ... but Chris says it was the pilot and not him who was into drugs. Chris claims -- or at least insinuates -- he was not smoking pot on the plane, although he doesn't explain why the pilot would summon cops and remove him from the jet. As we reported the police report is clear ... Chris and his entourage were removed from the plane. He does say, incredibly, that the pilot wanted to score an 8-ball from his posse. He's entertaining, for sure. (TMZ)
Master P will not be collecting his reality show payday ... instead the entire lump sum of nearly a million bucks will go directly to his longtime estranged wife. The judge in their ongoing war over child and spousal support ordered Master P to hand over $825,000 -- his salary for Season 2 of "Master P's Family Empire" -- to Sonya Miller. According to docs, that amount will cover back child and spousal support payments. The judge said the amount will also be used to secure future support. As we've reported ... Sonya's been griping for years that P refused to give her a cent in support -- even though she was with him when he built his No Limit fortune, now estimated at $200 million. The judge's order also requires him to pay $15k to Sonya's lawyer. We've reached to Master P ... so far no word back. (TMZ)
Prince could have died from a fatal mix of drugs, and cops are particularly interested to see if the singer had a combination of Percocet and the synthetic opiate Buprenorphine in his system. Sources connected to the investigation tell us they do not know what killed Prince, because the medical examiner still does not have toxicology results. They are, however, very interested in why Prince's doctor and the son of a rehab doctor were both at the house when he died. As we reported, Prince's doctor, Michael Schulenberg, told authorities he went to Prince's home to personally deliver test results. Andrew Kornfeld, the son of California rehab Dr. Howard Kornfeld, was also present and had Buprenorphine pills in his backpack. The pills are used to treat opiate addiction. Andrew's lawyer held a news conference saying Andrew was not there to personally administer the drug, but he was there to deliver the pills to a local doctor. That's why cops think it might be more than coincidental Kornfeld and Dr. Schulenberg were there at the same time ... when Prince died. As for the drugs ... medical experts say a combination of Percocet and Buprenorphine can be fatal because both drugs suppress breathing, and the combination creates a dangerous synergistic effect. If the toxicology results show both drugs were in Prince's system and contributed to his death, Dr. Schulenberg and Andrew Kornfeld would be questioned again to determine if either of them gave Prince the Buprenorphine and what tests were done to determine the level of Percocet in his system. We reached out to Dr. Schulenberg and Andrew Kornfeld ... so far no word back. (TMZ)
THE OTHER STUFF . . .
Leo DiCaprio bought a Chanel bag for $18,100 at the Heart Fund's Generous People Dinner Gala in Cannes, France. The Oscar-winner also placed a winning bid of $5,650 for a silk scarf by Russian model Inna Zobova's fashion line Innangelo. Swizz Beatz paid over $11,000 for three of them. DiCaprio similarly bought a bag at the same gala last year for $11,300. But a source said Leo's pricey gift was for "his mom," rather than any of his model girlfriends. Paris Hilton said that she'll be the charity's newest ambassador. (Page Six)
Blake Lively has pissed off the black community in a big way ... by captioning a pic that she now has an "Oakland booty." Blake, who's pregnant with her second kid, is in Cannes and pretty clearly was just joking with the Instagram post, but it's inflamed lots of people on social media. Blake was clearly gabbing a line from Sir Mix-a-Lot's song, "Baby Got Back (I Like Big Butts)." Some of the people who are throwing shade think Blake is using black women as a punchline. (TMZ)
Nearly a year to the day after news broke that Duggar had inappropriately five underage girls when he was a teen, the former 19 Kids and Counting star appears to be rejoining the family business of restoring and selling used cars. (The vehicle in the photographs was a camouflage-clad Jeep with an asking price of $16,500.) A source tells PEOPLE Duggar "looks happy" and "interacts very well with people," and spends a lot of time at his parents' home, as well as at the family garage. Of the residents of Tontitown, where most of the Duggars reside, the source says that "it seems like people don't really care." Two months ago, PEOPLE confirmed that the eldest of Jim Bob and Michelle's 19 children returned home after an almost seven-month stay in a faith-based rehab facility in Rockford, Illinois. The father of four checked in to the center last August following a series of scandals, including news that he was using the infidelity site Ashley Madison, followed by his public admission that he had become addicted to pornography and been unfaithful to wife Anna, 27. Before Duggar left the facility, his family spoke out about forgiving the star. "I definitely have forgiven Josh. It is a process, though, that you have to work through in your heart," sister Jessa (Duggar) Seewald, 23, told PEOPLE exclusively earlier this year. "And trust is not quickly rebuilt. It is something that takes a while. We love him very much, though, and we are very hopeful for the future." As for Anna's feelings, she recently opened up during an episode of TLC's Jill & Jessa: Counting On, saying that she's hopeful for what the future holds. "I think it's daily, there's going to be a lot of work and there kind of is a long process ahead, but we'll just kind of take it one day at time and keep trusting god and doing the right thing," she said. "I think there's lots of hope for the future and a lot of excitement. But, in some ways, there are a lot of steps before it's where it needs to be." (People)
Robert Shapiro, former defense attorney for O.J. Simpson, finally revealed what his client whispered to him after a jury pronounced him not. Shapiro sat down with Fox News's Megyn Kelly on Tuesday and discussed the 1995 double-murder trial-including Simpson's first words to him after being declared a free man. "'You had told me this would be the result from the beginning,'" Shapiro recalled Simpson told him. According to Shapiro, Simpson added, "'You were right.'" Shapiro was part of a "dream team" of lawyers who helped the former football star be acquitted in the deaths of Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman. But though the so-called "trial of the century" focused on Simpson as the lone suspect, Shapiro said prosecutors should have cast their net wider. "The prosecution wedded themselves to one knife, one killer theory," the attorney said. "There is a strong possibility that more than one person was involved." Shapiro said he was sure from the beginning his client would go free. Shapiro's confidence was bolstered after he tried on the bloody glove himself: "It was a little bit wide in my palm and a little bit wide in my fingers. O.J. Simpson has enormous hands, and I knew that glove would not fit him," Shapiro said. Shapiro said he instructed Simpson to march up to the jury, "hold up your hand like you're holding the Olympic torch and pull and tug on that glove, because it will not fit." He added: "And clearly it didn't." Kelly asked Shapiro whether he truly believed Simpson was innocent. "As far as moral justice, I haven't discussed it with anyone, including my wife," Shapiro said. "If you look at it from a moral point of view a lot of people would say, 'He absolutely did it.' I deal in legal justice, as you did as a lawyer," he told Kelly, a former lawyer. The legal system isn't always fair, Shaprio acknowledged. "Our system of justice is one that's balanced. We hope and pray that innocent people are never convicted," he said. "And the price we pay is that sometimes guilty people can and do go free." (People)
Alexandra Miller is no stranger to the pageant world, but because she is in her last year of age eligibility, she never thought she'd make it onto the Miss USA stage. "I was [current Miss USA] Olivia Jordan's first runner-up when she won the title of Miss Oklahoma USA, and she actually won Miss USA on my 26th birthday, which meant I had to decide if I wanted to compete my last year or take over her title," Miller tells PEOPLE. Miller decided to step in as Miss Oklahoma USA, meaning she would no longer be able to compete for the Miss USA crown. However, thanks to a fan vote for a 52nd contestant, the pageant pro will be able to compete. Miller was chosen from 10 ladies vying for the final spot, after competing in a nationwide search for Miss 52, a woman who best embodies Miss USA based on originality, personality and a web interview. "This is a chance for me to resurface a dream that I thought was long gone," says Miller, who has been competing in pageants for the past eight years-and who has been first runner-up twice for the Miss Oklahoma USA crown. Miller first became interested in the pageant world when she saw her older sister competing in their hometown pageant, and decided to try it herself when she was a senior in high school. "I didn't even place but I enjoyed it so much," she says. "I come from a competitive background-I was an athlete for the majority of my life-so this was just another avenue for me to push myself and my limits." Miller has always wanted to be a part of the Miss USA competition in particular because she feels its mission is in line with her personal goals. "The Miss Universe organization wants to promote confidence and believing in yourself and perseverance. I think that's who I am as a person, and that's why I was always interested in it," she says. "You have a unique opportunity as a title holder within the organization to inspire other people-whether it be young females or males across the world. That's why I want to be a part of the organization, and I'm so honored to have this incredible opportunity." (People)
A crystal-covered Cannes debut! Kim Kardashian sparkled her way down the De Grisogono party at the Cannes Film Festival 2016 on Tuesday, May 17. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, was draped in a custom gown by Lan Yu Couture that that was held together by embellished chains. Beneath the sparkly crew-neck design, Kardashian wore a nude, strapless slip. A pair of statement earrings by de Grisogono completed her outfit. The Selfish author, who arrived that day, joining momager Kris Jenner, sister Kendall Jenner and Scott Disick at the international festival, made sure her makeup and hair were on par with her glamorous outfit. Kardashian loved the design, and wrote a grateful caption for the gown on Instagram. "Thank you @lanyucoutureofficial for making this amazing dress for me to wear in Cannes!" Celeb stylist Jen Atkin slicked Kardashian's locks back into a sleek bun, while makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic added drama with a smoky cat-eye. Ahead of the star-studded event, which Bella Hadid and Paris Hilton also attended, Kardashian had her hands full of another precious stone -- the largest one she's ever held. "Wow! I thought I'd seen it all but this is the biggest diamond I have ever seen," she wrote on Instagram. "Massive 404 carats at de Grisogono!" Kardashian's trip to France was a short one. She was spotted at the airport -- with her hair still up in her elegant chignon -- in a much more casual white dress and over-the-knee Sergio Rossi boots the next morning. (US Weekly)
Jessika Borsiczky -- an executive producer on "House of Lies" -- got more than she asked for after listing her contemporary Spanish crib on the market. Borsiczky bought the pad for $1.56 million back in 2009 and sold it for $2.27 million. Her asking price was $2.195 million, so someone REALLY wanted this 3 bedroom and 4 bathroom pad in Hancock Park. The 2,270 square foot house sits "on the best street in Windsor Square." Perfect timing on the sale ... since Showtime announced Tuesday 'HoL' is ending after 5 seasons. (TMZ)
Kelly Ripa needs a different kind of co-host this time around ... maybe a black woman by the name of Sherri Shepherd. Sherri was in NYC Wednesday and made the case that male co-hosts have been played out on 'Live,' and a woman of color might fit the bill. And guess who would get top billing? (TMZ)
Barry Bonds is outraged over a video of several white kids who attend his daughter's fancy Brentwood private school using the n-word while rapping along with a popular song. The 26-second clip -- posted by Brentwood Students Against Racism -- shows several young white teens singing along to A$AP Ferg's, "Dump Dump" ... which features the lyric, "I f***** your bitch, n****." The video got to Barry, whose daughter, Aisha, attends Brentwood School ($37,000 a year) -- and he tweeted, "I am sad that i had to see this at my daughters school. #Racism #Fixit #Suspension." He's not the only one calling for action ... a Change.org petition was launched and already has more than 400 signatures. Not everyone is on the warpath -- a student who wished to remain anonymous spoke with NBC4 and condemned using the n-word, but said the kids should NOT be punished. "It's a small segment of the school that is making a big fuss over nothing ... Some of the extreme activists on campus are calling singing along to a rap song a 'hate crime' or 'hate speech' but that is a load of hogwash." The school has called the lyrics "offensive and inconsistent with our core values." School officials add, "We are investigating this insensitive behavior, will address the situation directly, and will respond seriously." (TMZ)
George Zimmerman's auction for the gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin has closed ... and the winning bid topped $120,000. We're told roughly 7 verified users participated in the bidding war. Zimmerman has to verify the winner and his or her funds before the sale is finalized. The top bidder is anonymous at this point, due to the auction site's rules. TMZ previously reported United Gun Group decided to pull the listing due to fake bids driving up the price. The site added a private email verification to sift out the fake bids. There are reports the gun sold for $138k, but we're told that number is one of those fake bids. (TMZ)

Even Grammy winners aren't immune to heartache. One of the ballads on Meghan Trainor's new album Thank You was inspired by a real-life relationship, the singer tells PEOPLE exclusively. "[It's] about this situation that I had since I was 18," she reveals. "We live in different places and it can never work out, but for some reason, we always come back to each other and we're always like, 'We shouldn't do this!' "The song is "one of the favorite songs I've ever written in my entire life," says Trainor. Just every part is perfect. The lyrics in the chorus are very heartbreaking and real." After cutting the track, the "No" singer "put the headphones on his head and said 'Listen, wrote you a song,'" she says. "I teared up, and he was like, 'I didn't know, but I hoped.' We were both trying to tell each other that we love each other because we thought it would never happen, and then we finally exploded and was like, 'Hi, I have to tell you I love you no matter what happens." Meghan Trainor Gives the Inspiration Behind Her Hit Song 'No'. Though she finally got her unspoken feelings off her chest, Trainor is still single-and that's the way she likes it for now. "I'm just dating myself," she explains. "If I have little flings, they always die 'cause of the schedule, or the guy's not right. It's a tough job to date a pop star! Whoever will be able to do it will be the one." (People)
Sometimes it's not what they say, it's what they don't say! Mariah Carey's Tuesday, May 17, appearance on Watch What Happens Live was totally unmissable -- and the pop diva's reactions to questions about Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj will have you laughing out loud! The "Hero" singer lived up to her reputation when she showed up late for her live TV appearance, leaving show host Andy Cohen hanging alone for a good few minutes while he prepared viewers for the superstar's arrival. He also abdicated his WWHL throne for his extra-special guest to make sure the TV cameras got her "good side." But when Carey did eventually arrive, boy, was it worth the wait! In a very understated style, Carey proceeded to throw shade in the direction of two fellow musical divas, Lopez and Minaj. "Do you know each other?" asked Cohen, of Carey and Lopez, after the Latina stunner told Wendy Williams last week that they have, in fact, met "many times." "No!" replied Carey. "She says you know her," pushed Cohen. "You know what, I'm very forgetful," Carey answered. "Apparently I'm forgetful, because I don't remember the fact that it was just like, 'Hi, I'm so-and-so,' and then move on." "Does she seem cool?" pressed Cohen. Cue one of Carey's big pauses! "I don't know her, what am I supposed to say?" she responded, eventually. Next in the firing line was Nicki Minaj, who Carey famously feuded with during her time on American Idol. "Can you say three nice things about Nicki Minaj?" asked Cohen during a game of 'Plead the Fifth.' "Can you?" replied Carey. After another long pause, she skirted the issue. "You know, I always thought it was more important with that situation to not plead the fifth, but to just stay above the fray," she explained. "Because you don't want to be declasse. You just want to move it along." But while Lopez and Minaj were clearly not on Carey's BFF list, Britney Spears and Beyonce fared a lot better. "We were at the MTV awards years ago, and we had a whole conversation," Carey said of Spears. "She was just a really nice girl." And Beyonce? "I love Beyonce." She added, "I would love to do a collaboration with her." (US Weekly)
She couldn't say no! Gwen Stefani explained how her boyfriend, Blake Shelton, asked her to collaborate on his new single, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," during a new interview with Chelsea Handler. "The story is that he had written this song and sent it to me on my phone. He's like, 'I wrote this song.' And I was like, 'Whoa, what if I don't like it? Huge turnoff!' I listened to it and thought, Oh, my God, I love this. He said, 'Write the rest of it,'" Stefani, 46, said on the May 18 episode of Handler's new Netflix series, Chelsea. "There was a time when I was really insecure about writing," she added. "There was such a drought of time when I was so insecure. I think when you have a really long year, you start to compete with your own self and get insecure." "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" is a track off of Shelton's 10th studio album, If I'm Honest. The couple recently performed the ballad on The Voice -- and couldn't keep their eyes off each other during the set. Shelton, 39, previously joked that he penned the tune to "impress" the No Doubt frontwoman. "[I was] just trying to write her a song to get her excited about me. And I sent her the song half-finished and she wrote the other half of the song. So, it's such a fifty-fifty emotionally invested thing," he told Extra on May 10. Last month, he also admitted that the song is personal for both of them. (Shelton and Stefani got together after divorcing their significant others, Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale.) "I know that I don't co-write that much because I'm very insecure about it, I guess, and [Gwen's] kind of got her circle of people that she writes with. But for us to reach out to each other as writers, it may never happen again," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I hesitate to brag on it too much, but I really think that it's as good of a song as I've ever written in my life." (US Weekly)
New Film Captures 'Los Punks' of L.A. Vans-produced documentary on Latino punk scene coming to New York, iTunes this month. Gary Alvarez fronts the band Rhythmic Asylum, regulars at the weekend backyard parties in Los Angles featured in Angela Boatwright's film Los Punks: We Are All We Have. The movie, which premiered at the Slamdance festival earlier this year, was produced by Vans, which will host a screening at its Brooklyn House of Vans on May 26. Los Punks will be released on iTunes on May 27. The film shows a shirtless, growling, and thrashing Alvarez performing the music he describes in the movie as expressing "La Tristeza."..the sadness of living in the hood. "It's the inner turmoil we feel inside as working class communities, as people coming from lower income backgrounds," he explains. "What else are you going to do but escape?" It's a time-honored, and here site-specific, sentiment, represented by the endearing Alvarez and other characters in Boatwright's portrait of Latino youth in East Los Angeles and South Central. "I love heavy metal music and punk music," says Boatwright, who had similar experiences as a teen in growing up in Ohio. "Being young, going to shows, staying out late. I can relate to it personally." Boatwright was introduced to backyard parties in East L.A. after moving to California from New York. She notes that what's happening now is the continuation of a scene which has existed for the past 40 years. "The subject was riveting right from the start," says Vans' Doug Palladini, who had assigned Boatright the task of "finding a Vans story and bringing it to life." He commissioned a series of webisodes documenting the scene in East L.A., and later served as executive producer for the Vans-funded documentary feature. "We've been a long format storyteller for some time," Palladini tells Billboard, citing the skateboarding essential Dogtown and Z-Boys, and No Room for Rock Stars, a 2012 documentary about the long-running Vans Warped Tour. "Documentaries are an important way to tell these stories. It's not about over-branding, but about films that express our ethos." Boatwright is also working on a photo book of the images of the musicians and party-goers she's been following for the last four years. "My main objective with the film was to tell some individual stories," she explains. "It was about giving them the space to tell their own stories and talk about themselves and express themsleves." Alvarez, the Rhymic Asylum frontman, is pursuing a career as an attorney. In one scene, he appears clad in a button-down shirt at a family celebration in the one bedroom he shares with his "super Catholic, super disciplined" parents, who immigrated to the United States from El Salvador and Guatemala, his brother and grandmother. Sitting beside his mother, he grabs a karaoke mike to sing an off-key interpretation of "Guantanamera." "It took me a while to realize that most of the punks here were Latino," Boatwright says. "They are all interesting stories. And very American stories." (Billboard)
Kelly Rowland's 5-Member Girl Group Beautifully Cover Drake 'Hotline Bling' A Cappella. Kelly Rowland's new girl group lineup was finalized just Tuesday night on BET docuseries Chasing Destiny, but the girls -- Ashly, Brienna, Gabby, Kristal, and Shyann -- are already poised to take over the industry. Their cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling" set off a stream of tweets from fans begging them to release it officially, and they've listened to the fans -- their goosebump-inducing a cappella take on the song that launched a thousand dorky dances is now on Soundcloud. Is This Site A Countdown to a New Rage Against The Machine Project? Rage Against the Machine hasn't done anything in five years. It's not an unusual break for the righteous rockers, who have gone on hiatus several times since seemingly calling it quits for good in 2000. And while it seems pretty unlikely that they will ever release a fifth album to follow up Renegades, a collection of covers released the year they broke up, suddenly there's hope for... something. On Tuesday they reportedly launched a new website, www.prophetsofrage.com (which at press time was not working) that featured a countdown to June 1. According to NME, the site also features the hashtag #TakeThePowerBack, which has been spotted on some posters around their hometown of Los Angeles. The tag is a callback to a song featured on the band's self-titled 1992 debut album, while the URL is the title of a Public Enemy song from the rap pioneer's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. That track features such fiery lyrics as "With vice I hold the mic device/ With force I keep it away of course/ And I'm keeping you from sleeping/ And on stage I rage" as well as warning, "Clear the way/ For the prophets of rage." PE frontman Chuck D has been posting links to some Rage live footage this week, leading to speculation that the two groups may be plotting a tour together. Rage have not played live since 2011, but last year bassist Tim Commerford left the door open to a potential reunion. "We are still a band, and we still might play again," he told Rolling Stone. "We don't have anything scheduled right now, but you never know what the future will bring." Reclusive singer/rapper Zack de la Rocha has kept a low profile since the band's 2011 show at LA Rising, with his last full musical effort dating back to a 2008 EP with former Mars Volta member Jon Theodore credited to One Day as a Lion. If Rage are taking to the stage in this summer of a hotly contested presidential election, it wouldn't be surprising. The politically-charged band played a series of shows in 2008 during the summer before that year's presidential election in an effort to rally voters against then-GOP candidate John McCain. A spokesperson for the band could not be reached for further comment at press time. (Billboard)
Drake Tops Justin Bieber as Most-Streamed Artist on Spotify, Company's Playlists Hit a Billion Weekly Streams. Headlines over the last day have pointed to Drake overtaking Justin Bieber as the most-streamed artist on Spotify, citing numbers on analytics aggregator Kworb. The feat is accurate, Spotify confirmed to Billboard. The milestone is especially impressive given the limited time that the whole of Drake's new record, Views, has been available on the platform -- less than a week. Its first two weeks were spent as an Apple Music exclusive, yielding a streaming record of 245.1 million listens in the U.S. during the record's first tracking week. (That sum includes plays of the album's songs on Apple Music, as well as the handful of songs from the set that were available at other streaming services like Spotify.) Views quickly sold more than a million copies (1.03 million) in two weeks' time, and it is the first album released in 2016 to surpass 1 million copies sold. Only two albums have sold more than a million this year: Views, and Adele's 25, which was released in 2015. In other Spotify mile markers, the company has announced that its in-house playlists are generating over 1 billion streams a week. The curated lists include Rap Caviar, Baila Reggaeton, Get Turnt, Teen Party and Exitos de Hoy, among others. The news is a victory for hybridized human-algorithm curation, according to the company's head content executive. "We build these playlists through a combination of the best music experts around, lots of work hunting for great sounds, and a 'feedback loop' of real-time user data that tells us which tracks listeners are loving more, and which tracks they may be loving a little less. This lets us add tracks that are starting to explode, and switch out tracks that have been around for a while," Stefan Blom, Chief Strategy and Content Officer at Spotify, said in a statement on the news. Idris Elba Stars in Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Dance Off" Video. Directed by Ryan Lewis and Jason Koenig, the cinematic clip is loaded with slick dance routines. When Idris Elba challenges you to a dance off, you do as you're told. The British tough-guy actor stars in the new video for the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis single, "Dance Off," which is beginning to take off online. Directed by Ryan Lewis and Jason Koenig, the cinematic clip is loaded with slick dance routines (including a particularly impressive breakdance-meets-weight-training move) and sweaty bodies ... and there's a single, naked male butt. "I challenge you to a dance off/Hands off, no trash talk, no back walk/On the black top, just me, you, that's all/No cat calls, no tag teams, no mascots," says Elba in his immaculate English accent. "Dance Off" is lifted from the hip-hop duo's latest album release, This Unruly Mess I've Made. Not surprisingly, the clip is generating a lot of buzz. Soon after its release overnight, the track was the fastest-moving song on Twitter, a fact Macklemore didn't miss. (Hollywood Reporter)

Ghostbusters Are Desperately Trying to Save New York City, Chris Hemsworth and Their Reputations in Third Trailer. They've almost arrived! Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are getting ready to drive into theaters in their Ecto-1 this July, but first fans of Ghostbusters are getting a closer look at what's to come when ghosts start taking over Manhattan once again in the newest trailer. Even though ghosts are clearly taking over the city, the people seem to be skeptical about the women's efforts. "What do we think of these Ghostbusters?" a newscaster asks. "Are they to be taken seriously?" Based on their wild, clumsy antics, we can see why they wouldn't want to. In previous trailers we've seen Chris Hemsworth be hilarious (and hot) as the group's new receptionist, who eventually straps on the Ghostbusters' uniform after realizing they could use an extra pair of hands. Unfortunately, Hemsworth's fate doesn't seem to great. While showing off his new motorcycle to his partners, a ghost takes over his body and causes him to transform into something evil. Save him, Ghostbusters! At least they have a car, courtesy of Jones' character, to go after him when he drives off into the unknown. "You didn't disclose that the vehicle was going to be a hearse," McCarthy joked in the first trailer. "It's a Cadillac!" responded Jones. But as we know so far, the Ghostbusters are going to need bigger proton packs because these ghosts are a result of a machine someone has built that amplifies paranormal activity. "We're going to need a bigger boat!" Hemsworth jokes, referencing Jaws. The Ghostbusters official website notes, "Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!" (Eonline)
Cannes' $50M Bombshell: Why STX Won the Bidding War for Scorsese's 'The Irishman'. "I was hearing Fox was in, Fox was out. Universal was in, Universal was out. But everyone was in the dark," says STX International president David Kosse, who negotiated the deal poolside at Vanity Fair's festival party. Martin Scorsese's next project is the Oscar-winning director's long-awaited return to mobster epics, and the haggling for its rights would make the toughest negotiator proud. STX Entertainment prevailed in a deal worth $50 million for foreign rights to The Irishman after a bidding war whose final points were hammered out poolside at Vanity Fair's May 14 Cannes bash, where erstwhile Scorsese collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Mick Jagger partied while a handful of dealmakers representing disparate studios were sitting on pins and needles. "A lot of the people who were potential players were all at that party," says STX International president David Kosse, who fine-tuned his company's offer between canape bites. "I was hearing Fox was in, Fox was out. Universal was in, Universal was out. But everyone was in the dark. No one really knew anything until the next morning." The deal finally was struck hours after the final straggler left the Hotel du Cap. The bidding was fierce and also included IM Global and Bloom, but Mexican financier Gaston Pavlovich's Fabrica de Cine, which is fully financing the $100 million movie, opted for STX. Paramount, which will handle domestic distribution, will collaborate with STX on marketing. The Irishman, written by Gangs of New York's Steve Zaillian based on a best-seller by Charles Brandt, reunites Scorsese with his original muse, Robert De Niro, who will play Frank Sheeran, a high-ranking Teamster with ties to the Bufalino crime family. Shortly before his death in 2003, Sheeran confessed that he killed fellow Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa, whose body never has been found. He also claimed that he played a role in John F. Kennedy's assassination. Al Pacino also is on board the long-gestating project, and The Irishman would mark the first collaboration between the actor and fellow gangster-movie icon Scorsese. But one question mark is the involvement of Joe Pesci. Sources say Pesci, who largely has retired from the film business, repeatedly has told Scorsese no, but the director remains hopeful that he can lure back his Goodfellas star. As for how STX landed The Irishman, Kosse had one advantage. When he was head of Universal International, he helped the studio acquire foreign rights to Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, which became a big hit overseas, earning $275 million of its $392 million total haul internationally. "I'm not convinced that gave us an inside track, but it probably helped," says Kosse. Instead, he thinks STX won with a pitch that emphasized the film's importance to the upstart studio, which Robert Simonds launched in 2014. "We certainly pitched that to have a film like this on our release schedule, it would be our most important project," adds Kosse. "Maybe they wanted to be at a place where they would be the No. 1 or No. 2 film on a slate, as opposed to No. 3 or No. 4." So far, this year's Cannes has been a major coming-out for STX. A day before the Irishman deal, the studio prebought U.S. and China rights for Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut, Molly's Game, starring Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba, for $9 million. Robin Wright has revealed that she demanded a pay increase to match her House of Cards co-star Kevin Spacey. YASSS! We salute you, Robin Wright. The 50-year-old actress - who plays First Lady and Vice Presidential Claire Underwood on the hit Netflix show, and has appeared in all 52 episodes of the show - threatened to "go public" with the discrepancy if she didn't get equal pay. Robin has also directed some of the series and has served as executive producer on the recent fourth season of the political drama. Speaking at an event at the Rockefeller Centre in New York Tuesday, she said: "I was like, 'I want to be paid the same as Kevin'. "It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in House of Cards. "I was looking at statistics and Claire Underwood's character was more popular than [Frank's] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, 'You better pay me or I'm going to go public' And they did." Forbes worked out that Robin makes around $420,000 an episode. Robin also revealed that when she took time out to raise her children, she said it definitely impacted her career. She said: "Because I wasn't working full time, I wasn't building my salary bracket. If you don't build that ... with notoriety and presence, you're not in the game anymore. You become a B-list actor. You're not box office material. "You don't hold the value you would have held if you had done four movies a year like Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett did during the time I was raising my kids. Now I'm kind of on a comeback at 50 years old." (British Glamour)
Lauren Conrad: I Threw a 'Fit' at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's Wedding After 'The Hills' Producers Locked Me Away. Today is where your book begins! In honor of the 10th anniversary of The Hills' MTV debut on March 31, 2006, Lauren Conrad opens up exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly and reveals why she got so upset and desperately tried to leave Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's April 2009 wedding. Conrad, 30 -- who met Montag in college before their notorious falling out -- parted ways with the show during season 5, and her final scenes were shot at Montag and Pratt's nuptials. The lifestyle blogger, who wed William Tell in September 2014, remembers that she only had a short time to film the episode because she was hurrying off to an event with then-boyfriend Kyle Howard, and things got even more complicated when the electricity in the church went out. "The power went out, the generator went out and I said, 'I need to leave!'" Conrad recalls. "And [producers] wouldn't let me leave! They literally locked me in the basement with two security guards and wouldn't let me leave! And I was like, 'You can't keep me here!' I was throwing a fit!" (Producer Adam DiVello, meanwhile, says Conrad "might have felt locked in, but she was not.") Two hours later, it was finally time to film the wedding. As soon as the ceremony ended, the bestselling Celebrate author quietly made her exit, not even bothering to exchange pleasantries with her costars. "At that point, this wasn't really my life anymore, and I left out the [church's] side door, so that's why in the final scene, I'm not leaving with everyone else -- I'm taking a side exit out because I had a car waiting, and I needed to leave!" she says. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Loses One of Their Own and Sets the Stage For a Shocking Season 4. This should go without saying, but the following contain major spoilers from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s season finale. If you haven't had the chance to watch yet, you might want to turn away. Proceed with caution! After one epic game of pass the cross necklace that had us biting our fingernails down to the quick, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally lived up to its promise and lost one of their own in the final moments of the second season finale. It wasn't exactly who we predicted a few weeks back (Joey wasn't anywhere to be found this week and, though Yo-Yo was shot a bunch of times while protecting Mack, she managed to pull through), but we were pretty darn close. In the end, to make sure that Daisy (Chloe Bennet) didn't fulfill her own prophecy by hijacking Hive's (Brett Dalton) nuclear warhead-equipped quinjet after finding the cross in the pocket of the jacket she was wearing, Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) sacrificed himself for the woman he loved, the team that he never quite felt a part of, and the world. "Saving the girl I love and the world as the same time? Feels pretty right to me," he told Daisy as she pleaded with him over the communication system. And no, we're not crying thinking about it all over again. You are. Lincoln wasn't the only loss of the night, however. We can't forget that he died alongside Hive in that quinjet up in space, though one can never be too sure that Hive is truly dead, can they? We'll have to wait until fall to find out. Another thing we've got to wait to find out? What the heck was going on in that six month time jump. Daisy's back on the run, sporting a very goth-lite look with some long black locks. Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Mack (Henry Simmons) are tracking her every destructive move. (The world at large doesn't seem to be too fond of Quake, according to that newspaper-littered bulletin board.) And when they do close in on her, she quakes upwards (in a very Jessica Jones-fashion) and flies away. Flies! We've got a feeling season four is going to be a whole new world for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And we can't wait. To hear from Brett Dalton on whether or not he thinks Hive is truly gone and if we can expect to ever see him on S.H.I.E.L.D. again, be sure to check back with E! News after the episode airs on the west coast! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season four this fall on ABC. (Eonline)
Need Your Heart Ripped Out? The Flash's Latest Death Can Help! Caution! The following article contains spoilers for Tuesday night's episode of The Flash, "Invincible." Proceed at your own risk! RIP Henry Allen. We should have known his death was coming after he and Barry shared such beautiful moments together in the past few episodes (which is how TV shows foreshadow deaths), but we didn't, and we weren't ready for it. With Zoom's encouragement, a whole army of metas took over Central City, including Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Laurel's evil doppelganger. Cisco and Caitlin dressed up as their evil selves, Reverb and Killer Frost, to try and get her to trust them, but she saw through the ruse, and the gang back at the lab was forced to use a high pitched frequency to disable anyone from Earth-2. Zoom escaped, of course, but most other metas were captured, and the day seemed saved. Everyone gathered back at Joe's house to celebrate both a job well done and Henry's homecoming. Right after Barry and Iris decided to give their relationship a chance, Cisco had a vision of Earth-2 splitting right in half, and then Zoom showed up. He grabbed Henry, had Barry chase him to Barry's childhood home, and Zoom murdered Henry right there in the same dining room where Barry's mother died. It was awful. Once again, we had to watch John Wesley Shipp die, but at least he wasn't reaching for ice cream this time. (Where all my Dawson's Creek fans at?!) Henry made it all the worse by using his last few moments to tell Barry how much he loved him, even if he could barely be heard over Zoom being an asshole. "Whatever happens, you have made me the happiest father," Henry said, right before Zoom punched right through both Henry's heart and our hearts. Ugh. This sucks. The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW. (Eonline)
Scream Queens Is Going "Much Darker" for Season 2's Hospital Edition. Scream Queens is going dark for season two -- like way, way darker. Fox's serial killer horror comedy is moving from college to a hospital in its second season, and the stars are already preparing themselves to move from the pastel wonderland of the KKT sorority house to a hospital. "I think it'll be dark. I think it's going to be very dark," star Jamie Lee Curtis tells E! News at Fox's Upfront party in New York City after the network announced its 2016-17 programming schedule. "It's in a hospital, [there's] a lot of darkness in hospitals -- dark hallways, scary rooms, sharp objects, a lot of blood, disinfectants." Lea Michele, whose character, Hester -- spoiler alert! -- turned out to be one of the Red Devil killers, is excited for the dark turn. "I don't know how I can get any darker than I did in season one but hey, whatever Ryan Murphy wants me to do I am totally down with," she says. While the cast has yet to read any scripts for season two, they're excited about the new direction the show is taking this year. "We're adding some incredible new cast members that you'll find out about soon. It's going to be fun, it's going to be wild," star Emma Roberts promises. "We haven't even read a script yet though, so we actually don't know what's going to happen." Well, they might not know the big picture, but some of the stars do know what's happening with their own characters. Michele tells us that she already knows Hester's arc. "I'm really excited about it," she says. "I get to be even crazier this year than I was last year, if you can believe it!" Scream Queens returns to Fox this fall in its Tuesdays at 9 p.m. time-slot. Michael Weatherly Will Totally Guest Star on NCIS In the Future, Don't Worry. Michael Weatherly might be saying goodbye to NCIS after 13 seasons, but it's probably not the last time you'll see Tony DiNozzo in the NCIS universe. The actor has already agreed to return for a guest spot -- well, not formally, but he's absolutely interested. "I believe in the franchise of NCIS very much and it's why I went and did NCIS L.A. last year and NCIS New Orleans," he told reporters before his final NCIS episode as a series regular. "In fact, last year I did 26 episodes of NCIS -- the franchise -- which is insane." It's okay, though, because he cares about the show and the world so much. "You know, you wouldn't really want a mortal person to be doing that, but luckily I'm made of titanium and it's a very strong," he joked. "I would absolutely be open to anything and everything, including things that no one's even thought of yet -- so I would say the long answer is yes [to a guest spot in the future]." NCIS (and now its two spinoffs) have become an integral part of the TV landscape, something Weatherly attributes to the close-knit community the cast and crew have created. "I think everyone understands that it's a show about a group of people that work really hard together but they love each other like a family -- but they're not a family like Blue Bloods is a family," he said. "This isn't [an actual] family. These are coworkers. They just are good at their jobs, respect each other, love each other and have each other's back." He continued, "I think it's a great show for the world, especially in very uncertain times, to be able to know that there's good people out there who have a sense of humor but also have a sense of honor." When asked for his favorite episode, Weatherly paused -- he does have more than 300 to choose from, after all -- but ultimately chose "Truth or Consequences," the show's seventh season premiere. "That's one of those questions that is both incredibly easy but also frustrating to answer because it changes depending on what my blood sugar level is or what," he confessed. "But time and time again I go back to this episode called 'Truth or Consequences,' which was the season premiere of season seven. The reason I keep going back to that episode, written by Jesse Stern, directed by Dennis Smith and just well-executed on every level, is that it was really a primer on what NCIS was at that point in time," he said. "And because of the story that was unfolding and the way that story got told, if you were a brand new viewer 'Truth of Consequences' would be a great first episode to watch because it really revealed all the characters and the dynamics of the show and tonally and everything else. It really fired on all cylinders." Weatherly's final NCIS episode aired Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on CBS. (Eonline)
CNN Orders Three New Series from Producers Dwayne Johnson, Sean Hayes and Tom Hanks. Each of the eight-episode unscripted series will debut in 2017. CNN is expanding its originals slate with three new unscripted series that count Dwayne Johnson, Sean Hayes and Tom Hanks among their executive producers. Each eight-part series, Soundtracks: Songs That Made History, The History of Comedy and The Nineties will launch in 2017, joining the previously announced spiritual adventure series Believer with Reza Aslan. Soundtracks (working title) will explore the music tied to iconic moments in history. From the March on Washington to the riots at Stonewall to the moon landing to Hurricane Katrina, each episode of the series will cover a tragedy, triumph or the start of a movement -- and the music that came to define it. Produced by Show of Force and Seven Bucks Productions, the series will be executive produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Brian Gewirtz. The History of Comedy will explore what makes people laugh -- from the Ancient Greeks, to Shakespeare, Vaudeville, to the biggest contemporary comedians, movies and TV shows. It'll dig deep into political humor and slapstick, using archival footage, original comedic material and interviews with comedy legends. Hayes and Todd Milliner (Hazy Mills) will executive produce, alongside Mark Herzog and Christopher G. Cowen (Herzog & Company). The Nineties follows in the footsteps CNN's previous decade series The Sixties, The Seventies and The Eighties. Executive produced by Hanks and Gary Goetzman in association with HBO and Herzog, the series will highlight cultural and political milestones that defined the decade -- from the birth of the internet to President Bill Clinton's impeachment. CNN's 2017 slate will also feature new seasons of its returning original series, including Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, This is Life With Lisa Ling, The Hunt with John Walsh, Death Row Stories, The Wonder List with Bill Weir, and Finding Jesus. Among the network's current lineup is United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell, Morgan Spurlock Inside Man, The Eighties and Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies. (Hollywood Reporter)
TV Ratings: Megyn Kelly's Fox Debut Brings 4.7 Million Viewers, 'NCIS' Dominates in Finale. Dating show 'Coupled' fizzles in its premiere, making for another soft reality launch. Megyn Kelly stepped out on Big Fox Tuesday night with her inaugural Megyn Kelly Presents interview special -- notably featuring a sit-down interview with GOP presidential Donald Trump, who's made a frequent target of the cable news personality since they sparred during a 2015 debate. Facing stiff competition from The Voice and the season finale of NCIS, the special did give Kelly a larger audience than she typically sees on Fox News Channel. Fast National ratings give their meeting 4.7 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49. It was a chummy exchange, given the duo's history, so the lack of fireworks naturally kept it from the kind of ratings highs associated with some of Trump's TV appearances. Kelly led into the series premiere of dating series Coupled. That, keeping in line with all reality launches since ratings anomaly Little Big Shots, was pretty weak. Coupled only averaged a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 1.9 million viewers. NCIS topped the night with a massive 17.6 million viewers and a 2.5 rating in the key demo, easily outpacing The Voice and everything else on broadcast. (Hollywood Reporter)
CBS Chiefs Confirm 'Limitless' Being Shopping Elsewhere. The procedural based on the movie is more than likely done at CBS. Sometimes IP just isn't enough. Fresh off cancelling Rush Hour, CBS appears poised to drop fellow film-to-TV reboot Limitless, with executives telling press during its pre-upfront breakfast that the procedural is being shopped elsewhere by producers CBS Television Studios. "Right now we're in discussions with other potential buyers so I'd rather not comment on that at the moment," CBS president Glenn Geller told reporters, declining to say the series has officially been canceled. The decision to likely drop Limitless comes after CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves was bullish about nearly all of the network's first-year shows back in March. But enlisting Bradley Cooper, who starred in the 2011 film on which the show was based, as an executive producer and recurring guest star didn't provide the fireworks the network was no doubt banking on for a blockbuster film star and three-time Oscar nominee. The drama averaged a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 with impressive DVR numbers factored in, but it's live-plus-same-day stats (1.4) placed it well behind that of Tuesday night counterparts NCIS (2.2) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.8). With all three NCIS shows returning as well as cop dramas in Training Day and MacGyver, CBS has opted to gamble to see if it can improve on Limitless' performance. While the Jake McDormand and Jennifer Carpenter starrer likely won't be back on CBS, the series did receive a fair amount of critical support. THR's TV critic Daniel Fienberg called it one of TV's most "creative procedurals." Overall, CBS' freshman class finishes at 3-for-7, with the network also cancelling comedy Angel From Hell and renewing Life in Pieces, Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders with Supergirl canceled and moving to The CW for season two.
