Paving on eastbound I-10 in Cochise County will require ramp closures Wednesday
Paving work on Interstate 10 near Benson will move to the eastbound travel lane on Wednesday (May 4), requiring brief closures of the ramps at Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch and Skyline Road in Cochise County.
Crews will apply the surface coat of asphalt on the right lane of eastbound I-10 from the Cochise County line (milepost 296) to one mile west of the State Route 90 interchange (milepost 301) from approximately 8 a.m.until sundown.
When the paving work is passing the ramps at Mescal/J-Six (Exit 297) and Skyline (Exit 299), the ramps will be closed to traffic for between 30 minutes and an hour.
The final paving of this section of eastbound I-10 is expected to be completed on Wednesday, but will extend into Thursday, if necessary.
The work is part of a $17.1 million project to improve approximately 17 miles of I-10 between Tucson and Benson in both directions and replace the westbound I-10 bridge over Davidson Canyon, located 20 miles east of Tucson.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
