When Neo-Nazi's Get Pets

In England, a Neo-Nazi who worked at a call center apparently taught his pet pug to do a Nazi salute in response to the words, "Sieg Heil" and has been arrested for perpetrating a hate crime. A YouTube clip which featured 28-year-old Markus Meechan's dog watching Hitler's speeches on TV has been viewed nearly a million times on YouTube. The video showed his dog Buddha jumping up on hearing the words: "Gas the Jews." After police were made aware of the clip, Meechan was arrested on suspicion of a hate crime. Detective Inspector David Cockburn said: "The clip is deeply offensive and no reasonable person can possibly find the content acceptable in today's society. This arrest should serve as a warning to anyone posting such material online, or in any other capacity, that such views will not be tolerated." The arrest actually happened on April 28 but has only now been made public. Meechan later apologized to the Jewish community for the video, which he said was only made to annoy his girlfriend Suzanne. He said, "I am not a racist at all, anybody who knows me could tell you that. Honestly, I don't hate anyone, the whole purpose of this was just to annoy my girlfriend. It was strictly made to annoy my girlfriend and give my friends something to laugh at. I am so sorry to the Jewish community for any offense I have caused them. This was never my intention and I apologize." (Metro)
