Delays on State Route 82 in Santa Cruz County continue

Pavement-improvement work requires lane closure; allow extra travel time

Drivers traveling on State Route 82 from milepost 28 (just north of Adobe Canyon Road) to milepost 33, near the junction of SR 83, should allow extra travel time for pavement improvement work that continues through late February. Work is underway from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in both directions. During this work:

Traffic will be alternated to the open lane and guided through the work zone by a pilot vehicle, work crews and traffic devices.

Drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.

The $2 million improvement project includes milling and replacing the asphalt with a double chip seal coat, installing guardrail, removing and replacing bridge barriers and replacing pavement markings along a five-mile stretch on SR 82.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511 except while driving.
