Two projects, one schedule begin on State Route 73 in the White Mountain Apache area

A two-in-one construction schedule for a 13-mile stretch of State Route 73 in the White Mountain Apache Indian community will complete work more efficiently for motorists traveling in the area. This project will combine paving, sidewalk and guardrail installation (mileposts 330 to 342) along with much anticipated pedestrian-safety improvements in the community of Whiteriver (mileposts 338 to 340).

A one lane restriction for travel will begin Monday, May 15 with a pilot car operation to allow for alternating travel in the work zone.

Construction will be active during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday work planned. The project is anticipated to be completed late summer/early fall 2017.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors.
