I-17 frontage roads closed at times west of downtown Phoenix this weekend
Freeway-improvement and utility projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (Dec. 18-21). Drivers should plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:
Interstate 17 frontage roads closed in both directions in areas between Jefferson Street and 19th Avenue from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 19-20) for traffic-signal installation. I-17 on- and off-ramps in the area also closed at times. Grant Street closed at I-17 on Saturday and Buckeye Road closed between 19th and 27th avenues on Sunday (local access only). DETOUR: Consider using 19th or 27th avenues as north-south routes. Please use adjacent I-17 on- or off-ramps when ramps in the area are closed.
Interstate 17 off-ramps (both directions) at Union Hills Drive restricted with lane closures from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Dec. 21) for APS power line project. Union Hills Drive also narrowed to one lane in both directions between I-17 and 23rd Avenue. DETOUR: Expect heavy traffic and delays. Consider using Bell Road as alternate route in area.
