Lane restriction on westbound I-10 to be in effect overnight tonight

As a result of equipment issues on the paving project on westbound Interstate 10 near Benson, a lane closure will be in effect overnight tonight approximately two miles west of the junction with State Route 90.

The 2,000-foot-long lane closure on westbound I-10 near milepost 300 will remain in effect until paving operations resume and crews can fill an open trench where the highway was milled after equipment issues prevented it from being repaved.

Eastbound I-10 traffic will not be affected.

The paving operations on westbound I-10 are scheduled to continue from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 22) and Wednesday (Dec. 23), then crews will take a break for the remainder of the holiday weekend.

The work is part of a $15.1 million project to repave approximately 17 miles of I-10 in both directions between Tucson and Benson, and replace the westbound I-10 bridge over Davidson Canyon, located 20 miles east of Tucson.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
