On The Road With ADOT

I-8 work in Pinal County

Interstate 8 in Pinal County is narrowed to one lane daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in both directions between Peart Road and Bianco Road (mileposts 170 to 175) in the City of Casa Grande for pavement and bridge improvements. The lane closure will be in place around the clock at Peart Road and the Santa Cruz Bridge through late December.

Construction crews will not be working Thursday (Dec. 24) through Sunday (Dec. 27) and Thursday (Dec. 31) through Sunday (Jan. 3) in observance of the winter holiday. Work will resume Monday (Jan. 4).

The work is to allow the Arizona Department of Transportation to resurface pavement on I-8 from Bianco Road to I-10 and on the east- and westbound I-8 Thornton Road, Trekell Road and Peart Road bridges.

Lane restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the project. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.

The work also includes new pipe extensions, guardrails, cattle guards and lowering I-8 at Thornton Road to meet the new bridge height of 16 feet.

The $7.3 million project is expected to be completed by summer 2016.
Drivers are reminded to share the road, be cautious, and slow down while traveling through the work zone.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
