JOB DESCRIPTION:
Mentors are direct care professionals that implement the daily structure for clients, facilitate group discussions and are available for crisis intervention. BHT’s and BHPP’s are responsible to provide a safe and secure environment for clients through therapeutic supervision at all times and actively participating in scheduled events and activities. The IDEAL candidate must: *be positive and upbeat*be able to function in a high stress environment*be dependable*be caring and compassionate*display a willingness to learn*possess a level 1 fingerprint clearance card from DPS*possess a valid driver’s license*39-month clean driving record *pass drug screen. empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Someone who is compassionate and excited to work with and help children. Additionally, you must be able to complete new hire orientation classes, mandatory training have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents.
Knowledge of behavioral management, de-escalation methods, crisis intervention, and defusing techniques to prevent violent behavior harmful to self or others and the ability to apply these techniques at various levels of crisis is a plus!
The schedule includes but is not limited to late afternoons, evenings and weekends
REQUIREMENTS:
* Applicant must be 21+ years of age or older * Must have a High School Diploma or GED
* Basic Computer Skills * Read, Write & Speak English Clearly
* Valid AZ Driver's License
* Clean driving record * CPR/First aid training * Reliable transportation to get to and from the assigned work setting
MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Behavioral Health Technicians (MENTOR BHT)
(Benson, Safford, and Sierra Vista )
An individual who meets the applicable requirements in A.A.C. R9-20-204 and:
a. Has a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a field related to behavioral health; b. Is a registered nurse; c. Is a physician assistant who is not working as a medical practitioner; d. Has a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of full-time behavioral health work experience; e. Has an associate’s degree and at least two years of full-time behavioral health work experience; f. Has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and: i. 18 credit hours of post-high school education in a field related to behavioral health completed no more than four |

years before the date the individual begins providing behavioral health services and two years of full-time behavioral health work experience; or ii. Four years of full-time behavioral health work experience; or
g. Is licensed as a practical nurse, according to A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 15, with at least two years of full-time behavioral health work experience.
Behavioral Health Paraprofessionals (MENTOR BHPP)
(Benson, Safford, and Sierra Vista)
If you do not meet the requirements for a BHT, you may meet criteria for a Behavioral Health Paraprofessional per A.A.C. Title 9, Chapter 20 (R9-20-101):
a. An Associate’s degree or b. A high school diploma, or
c. A high school equivalency diploma.

* Protect client rights
* Provide treatment that promotes client dignity, independence, individuality, strengths, privacy, and choice |

* Provide the behavioral health services that the agency is authorized to provide and that the staff member is qualified to provide
* Protect and maintain the confidentiality of client records and information * Recognize and respect cultural differences
* Recognize, prevent, and respond to a situation in which a client might be a danger to self or a danger to others * May be experiencing a medical emergency
* Read and implement a client's treatment plan; * Assist a client in accessing community services and resources
* Record and document client information
