Public scoping meeting for ADOT SR 86 study scheduled Wednesday evening
Public input sought for future improvements to Ajo Way west of I-19
The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a study to determine future improvements to a 5 ½-mile segment of State Route 86 (Ajo Way) west of Tucson at a Feb. 10 public scoping meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 10) at the Valencia Middle School, 4400 W. Irvington Road., in the Multipurpose Room.
ADOT, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, is conducting a study focusing on SR 86 between Kinney Road and Holiday Isle Boulevard, which is located west of the Santa Cruz River and Interstate 19.
The study will identify solutions during the planning phase that will possibly help accommodate projected increases in regional traffic volumes, recommend improvements and present a phased construction plan for making improvements.
Traffic volumes are expected to increase because of continued westward expansion of Tucson’s urban area.
A brief presentation will be given at 5:45 p.m., with questions and answers afterward. Comments from the public will be considered by the ADOT team and become part of the official record of the study.
Those requiring accommodation based on language or disability should contact ADOT Community Relations at 855-712-8530 or projects@azdot.gov.
The deadline for all public comments is March 14, 2016. Comments can be provided to ADOT’s study team members at the meeting, by calling (602) 530-1697 or by email at alexandra.albert@jacobs.com, or may be mailed to:
