Five miles of eastbound State Route 260 restricted this week for controlled burn

Eastbound State Route 260 will be restricted to one lane beginning Tuesday (Sept. 13) for fire-prevention operations in response to the recently ignited Fulton Fire.  The right lane of SR 260 will be closed between Christopher Creek and Forest Lakes (mileposts 277-282) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Thursday (Sept. 15).

The lane restriction is required to accommodate a controlled burn by Tonto Ranger District. Travelers should plan for possible delays and be prepared for heavy smoke and reduced visibility in the area as crews burn and remove vegetation in the back burn area.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.
