I-10 West narrowed this weekend approaching Estrella Parkway
Allow extra time as crews add quiet pavement near Loop 303 interchange
PHOENIX – Drivers with plans to travel on westbound I-10 near Loop 303 in Goodyear this weekend should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes because the freeway will be narrowed for resurfacing work.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane between Estrella Parkway and Sarival Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, for rubberized asphalt paving.
The westbound I-10 off- and on-ramps at Estrella Parkway also will be closed over the weekend. The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Sarival Avenue is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12. Drivers who normally would use those exits can instead use the westbound exits at either Litchfield Road or Bullard Avenue.
Drivers also can consider using westbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to travel beyond this weekend’s freeway work zone before entering westbound I-10 at either Citrus or Perryville roads.
As part of a $63.5 million project to construct the south half of the Loop 303/I-10 interchange, crews are adding a new one-inch layer of smooth, durable rubberized asphalt along I-10 between Estrella Parkway and Perryville Road. Rubberized asphalt also helps reduce noise from vehicle tires.
Drivers who use I-10 in the Goodyear and Buckeye areas can expect a series of weekend restrictions this fall as crews make pavement improvements. ADOT will provide online updates on planned work and scheduled restrictions at azdot.govas well as the agency’s travel information site at az511.gov. Highway information also is available via ADOT’s Twitter feed (@ArizonaDOT).
Fans using I-10 to travel to Sunday evening’s Cardinals-Patriots game are reminded to allow extra travel time. Although this weekend’s westbound I-10 restriction is west of Loop 101 and University of Phoenix Stadium, heavier traffic conditions can be expected before and after the game.
