Northbound Loop 101 closed in the Scottsdale area for rubberized paving this weekend
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution and consider alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:
Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Indian Bend Road and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12) for rubberized asphalt paving. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Chaparral Road and McDonald Drive also closed. Expect heavy traffic and delays. DETOUR: Please consider alternate freeway routes, including westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to northbound State Route 51, or northbound Interstate 17, to connect with Loop 101. Northbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at Indian Bend Road will detour west to northbound Hayden Road and can re-enter Loop 101 via Cactus Road, but backups will occur. Note: East Valley fans traveling toSunday evening’s Cardinals-Patriots game in Glendale should plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid this weekend’s northbound Loop 101 closure.
For a complete list of highway and freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area and around the state, visit ADOT’s Travel Information site at az511.gov or call 511. Another great way to find out more about ADOT's projects and programs to improve Arizona’s transportation system is the ADOT Blog at azdot.gov/blog.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.

ADOT plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region. The primary funding source for regional freeway improvements is a half-cent sales tax approved by county voters in 2004. More information about ADOT projects and the regional plan is available at azdot.gov/PhoenixMetro.

Not using a safety device, such as a seat belt, car seat or motorcycle helmet, was a leading factor in Arizona traffic fatalities in 2015, contributing to 313 deaths. Be smart, drive safely.
