SR 89 Hell Canyon bridge demolition will require a 30-minute morning travel delay
Final SR 89 Hell Canyon bridge demolition Friday will require a 30-minute morning travel delay
The new bridge over Hell Canyon on State Route 89 (milepost 346) north of Chino Valley has been open since June, and the Arizona Department of Transportation is ready to remove the old structure. Motorists planning to use SR 89 between Interstate 40 and Prescott should be prepared for travel delays of up to 30 minutes Friday (Sept. 16), from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for crews to complete blasting work required for the final demolition.
Motorists should consider changing their travel time or using an alternate route, including I-17 and I-40 through Flagstaff or US 93.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it's possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.
