Westbound Loop 202 Narrowed from Power to Gilbert Roads this weekend for rubberized asphalt paving

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution and consider alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:
Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Power and Gilbert roads in Mesa from10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12) for rubberized asphalt paving. Westbound Loop 202 on- and off-ramps also closed in the area. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including westbound McDowell Road, to access local cross streets while freeway ramps are closed.
Additional freeway-restriction information will be posted at azdot.gov, under ADOT News. Visit the site to also subscribe to ADOT email updates, including weekend restriction information.
For a complete list of highway and freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area and around the state, visit ADOT’s Travel Information site at az511.gov or call 511. Another great way to find out more about ADOT's projects and programs to improve Arizona’s transportation system is the ADOT Blog at azdot.gov/blog.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.
For more information about this project, please call Julian Avila at 602-320-7263 or email javila@azdot.gov

ADOT plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region. The primary funding source for regional freeway improvements is a half-cent sales tax approved by county voters in 2004. More information about ADOT projects and the regional plan is available at azdot.gov/PhoenixMetro.

Not using a safety device, such as a seat belt, car seat or motorcycle helmet, was a leading factor in Arizona traffic fatalities in 2015, contributing to 313 deaths. Be smart, drive safely.
