American Idol Finalist Pia Toscano Marries Dancer Jimmy R.O. Smith. Pia Toscano just tied the knot! The American Idol alum married longtime love and dancer Jimmy R.O. Smith in a romantic ceremony on Saturday, Entertainment Tonight reports. The newlyweds' closest family and friends gathered at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island, New York for the joyous occasion. According to the outlet, Toscano looked stunning (as per usual) in a custom silk gown designed by Michael Costello. The modern look featured elaborate lace embroidery and a cascading sheer train. American Idol fans will remember the songstress from the series' 11th season. Her elimination in the tenth round shocked viewers, but she's gone on to lead quite a career for herself both as a solo artist and as a backup singer for Jennifer Lopez. As for her nuptials, Pia told ET, "I've dreamed of this magical day since I was 4-years-old, and I hoped to find my King." When it came to the invite list, the lovebirds kept it fairly exclusive, which meant no fellow Idol alums were in attendance. "As we decided to have the wedding in New York, it was a bit out of the way for everyone," she revealed. Smith popped the question back in late 2015 about two years after meeting Pia. As it turns out, none other than J. Lo introduced the pair to each other, as both were working on the "Aint Your Mama" singer's tour together. Congratulations to the happy couple! (Eonline)

Adam Driver Recalls the Last Time He Saw Carrie Fisher. Adam Driver misses his mama. A few hours after Carrie Fisher was honored at a private memorial in L.A. Thursday, Driver appeared on The Late Show in New York City, where he paid tribute to his fallen co-star. Driver made his debut in the Star Wars franchise in 2015 with The Force Awakens, playing Kylo Ren, the estranged son of Leia (Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford). Though the actors didn't share any scenes together, Driver and Fisher bonded on set and during the movie's global press tour. Fisher last appeared on The Late Show in December to promote her memoir, The Princess Diarist -- a real thrill for Stephen Colbert, a lifelong Star Wars fan. "As you can kind of tell from meeting her, she burns very bright and has such a great, very generous energy," Driver said. "For that suddenly not to be on set, and we're talking about it and all publicity, or just in life when you see her in a Star Wars event, she's just, you know...to have her character -- not just her character in the movie, but her character missing from that very small unit -- is a tragedy." Driver and Fisher were reunited while filming Star Wars: Episode XIII, in theaters Dec. 15 -- though it's unclear if their characters will finally cross paths. "We finished the second one last summer," he said. "I think the last time I saw her, actually, was on set, being Princess Leia." The actor and Colbert ended the interview with a lightsaber-inspired thumb war. Earlier, in a Larry King Now appearance, Driver said the next film will show Kylo's "humanity." "Even though it's very much a blockbuster movie, there was no taking that for granted, and that we were forced to be general. There was a lot of plot points that we knew were operating in the first one, that we get to explain more in the second one, to make both of them make sense," Driver said. "But they do kind of feel socially active to me, and George Lucas originally, a lot of Star Wars was in response to Vietnam and a lot of what I remember talking about with [J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson] was this idea of terrorism, and two sides being morally justified to behave however they wanted to get whatever they thought was absolutely correct." (Eonline)

Shannen Doherty Completes Radiation Therapy and Pays Tribute to Another Cancer Doctor and "Maggie." Shannen Doherty continues to honor the team that is helping her slay breast cancer, as she moves onto the next phase of her treatment regimen. The 45-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed alum was diagnosed with the disease in 2015 and has documented her battle on Instagram. She has undergone a single mastectomy, chemotherapy and most recently completed radiation therapy, marking the last of her most grueling cancer treatments. Doherty posted on Instagram Friday a photo of herself, her Beverly Hills-based radiation oncologist and two medical staff members standing in front of a radiation therapy machine nicknamed Maggie. "Thank you Vantage Oncology and Dr Leslie Botnick," Doherty wrote. "Thank you to all that work there, especially Anna, Vince, Mike (pictured here) and Jackie." "And a big thank you to Maggie," she added. "Everyday you rotated around me, I knew you were zapping the last of those pesky micro cells lingering behind. Here's hoping I never see you again sweet Maggie!!! #lovethiscrew #cancerslayer" In November, she honored her reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Jay Orringer. That month, Doherty began radiation therapy. Doherty introduced "Maggie" to her Instagram followers earlier this week. In October, Doherty paid tribute to her other oncologist, Dr. Lawrence Piro, and other nurses who treated her. "This is Maggie," she wrote, alongside a photo of herself posing playfully next to the radiation therapy machine. "I've seen Maggie five days a week for what seems like forever. We have a love-hate relationship. I love her because she's part of the lifesaving treatment I'm receiving. It's astounding how far we have come with technology. One day, Maggie will be retired and the cure will be found." "Things like immunotherapy are the future but for now.... it's me and Maggie," Doherty said. "I'm seeing her twice tomorrow so that I can wrap this phase up faster. Goodnight sweet Maggie. See ya tomorrow. #cancerslayer." Doherty is now set to take immunotherapy drugs to stimulate her immune system to kill cancer cells. Such medications can also bring side effects, although they are typically not as harsh as the ones patients tend to suffer while undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. The following day, she shared a photo of herself and her mother driving to a radiation therapy session. "Double radiation day here I come!!!" Doherty said. "Got @themamarosa and @missbowiedoherty with me. Maggie here I come. #cancerslayer #homestretch #gettingitdone." In addition to dealing with physical effects of her cancer treatments, Doherty has also had to deal with the different reactions from the public. She had last month shared a sad story about how a "random girl" seemed "horrified" to share an elevator with her after she had gotten a radiation treatment. "Just a heads up.... 1. You can't catch it 2. The radiation won't leak out of me and go into you. Hope that helps. #cancertruths from the #cancerslayer," she wrote on Instagram. Despite the grueling treatments, which have zapped her energy, Doherty has tried to keep fit and active during the process. She has posted videos of herself working out by dancing. "I believe that just moving helps so much in the healing process," she wrote last October. "It's not always easy and sometimes I can't do it the next day but I try to make an effort to get the blood flowing and the toxins out of my body thru working out." Doherty posted on Instagram Thursday a video of her dancing with her trainer, Neda. "Went from morning radiation to dance with Neda @jammalibu," she wrote. "Now shower then back into town for second radiation. Had to move to stay motivated!!! @sarahmgellar get ready... you're up!! #cancerslayer and #slayer." "@theshando amazes me each and everyday. #the queen #cancerslayer," Neda wrote. "It's been rough with radiation but she still comes in to her workouts with her head up high and says 'give it to me' lol and trust me I do!" "This is her after radiation doing repetitive dance intervals at a very high intensity!" she said. "After this workout she goes back for another session of radiation. #noexcuses and she never feels sorry for herself. #myhero #shannendoherty #fightlikeagirl #homestretch #onelove ?#oldschool #whoopthereitis #gangsterrap." Sarah Michelle Gellar and other celebs have expressed their support for Doherty publicly amid her cancer battle. "From one slayer to another- 'the hardest thing in the world is to live in it' thank you S for showing us all how to live," the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum wrote on Instagram in response to Doherty's post, which she reposted. "I want an invite to dance and celebrate with you please." (Eonline)

David Bowie Didn't Know He Was Dying Until Three Months Before the End. David Bowie only found out his liver cancer was terminal three months before he died, a documentary reveals. The musician was filming the music video for "Lazarus" when told his treatment would be stopped, its director said. Johan Renck tells "David Bowie: The Last Five Years," on BBC2: "The week we were shooting is when he found out that it is over. "We'll end treatment or whatever that means, that his illness has won." Bowie died on January 10 last year, just days after turning 69. Renck added the video, which shows the star with his eyes covered by bandages, was not about the illness. He said: "That was only because I liked the imagery of it." The Last Five Years looks at the singer's acclaimed A Reality Tour in 2003 as well as the last four years of his life in which he returned with two albums after a 10-year absence and helped produce hit musical "Lazarus." It includes rare and never-before-seen footage of Bowie and interviews during his Ziggy Stardust characterization and is a follow-up to the acclaimed "David Bowie: Five Years," which was broadcast in 2013. In one early interview, Bowie is asked if he always wanted to be famous, to which he replies: "Yeah. It's more than being a star. "What it is really is that I want to be productive. "I'm not content to just be a rock 'n' roll star all my life. "I am trying to be one at the moment because I need it at the moment for a particular reason so I can get off and do other things." There are also interviews with his long-time producer Tony Visconti who said Bowie was "at the top of his game" when recording Blackstar. Visconti, the man behind more than half of Bowie's studio albums including "The Man Who Sold The World" and "Heroes," added: "David had great, grand ideas. "To become well-known, famous, for him was initially to have the resources to realize what his ideas were. "He really does come from that spirit, he just didn't want to be famous per se." (PageSix)

Why Mark Wahlberg asks God for 'strength and courage'. Mark Wahlberg says he doesn't marvel at his success -- but is more grateful that his life didn't go down a dark path. He was awarded the 2016 Spotlight Award at the National Board of Review Gala in New York, and told Page Six, "I do have an [occasional] 15-minute period of reflecting, gratitude and being thankful. But I also ask for the strength and the courage because I know God put me in this position for a reason, so I try to live up to His expectations to make Him proud and be the best person that I can be." As for his four kids, all under 14, watching his film "Patriots Day," he says, "My wife won't allow my children to see the film. They are a little young so we do not want to put any images in their heads that may be difficult for them." (PageSix)

Ciara has dropped her $15 million defamation lawsuit against baby daddy Future ... TMZ has learned. The singer just filed legal docs in Superior Court in Fulton County, GA, ending her case which was triggered by a radio interview Future did followed up by tweets in which he accused her of being a control freak and a bad mom. According to the docs, the case has been dismissed "with prejudice" ... meaning she can't refile it. Our sources say Future didn't pay her a penny in return for the dismissal. But based on all the evidence, it seems almost certain they have also reached agreement on custody of 2-year-old baby Future. It's pretty clear Ciara has moved on, with new hubby Russell Wilson and a baby on the way, so the dismissal isn't surprising. (TMZ)

Jodie Sweetin's ex-husband claims she makes way more money than she did during their divorce, and he needs a cut for their child ... and a little for himself. Morty Coyle says Sweetin's making at least $600k a year with multiple sources of income from "Fuller House," residuals from "Full House," the reality show "Hollywood Darlings" and her own line of jewelry ... according to new docs. Meanwhile, he's only bringing in $2,000 a month. He also wants her to cover $7,500 of his attorney fees, and fork over $5,000 for a forensic accountant ... to keep tabs of her future earnings. (TMZ)

THE OTHER STUFF . . .

Kelly Osbourne: Ozzy overdosed on pills when Sharon had cancer. Kelly Osbourne reveals in her upcoming book, "There Is No F*cking Secret," that her father, Ozzy, overdosed when he learned his wife, Sharon, suffered a seizure during her cancer treatments. Kelly recalls that when she ran to tell her father they needed to go to the hospital, "Dad was there in his boxers, and I watched him scoop his hands into a bowl of pills, swallow a handful of something, and then wash it down with vodka." Later in the ambulance, "he leaned over to put his hand out to see if mum was breathing. Then he passed out with his hand over her mouth .?.?. The EMTs tried to pull him off, and Dad, not knowing where he was or what he was doing, started to resist out of habit. They pulled over the ambulance and started to call the police." Kelly writes she begged them not to call the cops and they agreed, but she had to zip-tie his hands to a bar so they could restrain him. When they arrived at the hospital, Sharon was placed in one room and Ozzy was rushed to another for treatment of a drug overdose and alcohol poisoning. "Dad could not handle the thought of losing mum," she explains, adding that he had a doctor come to the house and "shoot him up with whatever he wanted while the [doctor's] son sat in our dining room and played video games." Kelly also credits the late comic Robin Williams, saying he visited Sharon when she was "losing her cancer fight" and helped save her life. Williams, she says, "Climbed into bed with her .?.?. He stayed there all afternoon, and throughout the house, you could hear her cackling with laughter," Kelly writes. "Shortly after he left, she told us that she'd decided to go back and finish chemo .?.?. Robin Williams helped save mum's life." The book is written in open-letter form, with letters to Joan Rivers, racists and her vagina, and covers topics including dating and drugs and addiction. It comes out April 25 from G.P. Putnam's Sons. (PageSix)

Kim Kardashian Sports Casual Look on Another Rare Night Out With Kanye West. Kim Kardashian just wants to be comfortable. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was spotted out with Kanye West Friday night, sporting one of her most uncharacteristically comfy-looking outfits yet. This marked another rare joint appearance for the two, who have largely stayed out of the public eye since she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October and he was hospitalized for exhaustion the following month. Kim wore a red and black plaid flannel shirt over a black top and baggy light sweatpants, as well as two necklaces. Kanye sported a dark gray hoodie, camo pants and a gold pendant. Kim has for years usually worn fancier and more revealing outfits in public but has sported more casual looks recently while out in public, including with Kanye. She did, however, sport a more daring look Thursday; The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wore a black blazer that showed off her cleavage, paired with ripped light blue jeans and sandals, while out and about in Beverly Hills. Day before Christmas, she and Kanye were spotted grabbing dinner at a restaurant in Santa Monica, marking the first time they had been photographed together in public in months. Kim wore a cleavage-baring white dress. The two later attended a performance of The Nutcracker with daughter North West, 3, Kim's sister Kourtney Kardashian, and her daughter Penelope Disick, 4. Kim dressed casually, wearing a baggy red sweatshirt. She glammed it up for her family's Christmas party, where she debuted a lip ring. She did not wear it during her and Kanye's night out Friday. The two spent a low-key New Year's Eve together and then flew with North West, and 1-year-old son Saint West to Oklahoma to visit for the first time the final resting place of the rapper's mother Donda West, who died in 2007. Kim broke her silence about the Paris robbery in a recent Keeping Up With the Kardashians promo, which shows her discussing it tearfully with her family. Kim's emotional reaction to the news of husband Kanye West's hospitalization in November is also captured in the teaser. The rapper was admitted to UCLA Medical Center in November for sleep deprivation and exhaustion after canceling his Saint Pablo tour. "Don't scare me, please. What's going on?" Kim says, crying over the phone. She later explains, "I think he really needs me, and I have to get home." Tilikum -- the orca that killed someone at SeaWorld in Orlando 7 years ago -- has died. The giant mammal died Friday. It's unclear what killed him, but he had been treated for a nagging bacterial infection. The killer whale -- which was around 36 years old -- killed a trainer back in 2010. He was a central figure in the documentary, "Blackfish," the show which created a backlash against keeping killer whales in captivity. Tilikum was also involved in 2 other deaths back in the '90s. RIP (TMZ)

While everyone's crying for Tilikum, the family of late SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau wants the world to remember he killed their daughter 7 years ago -- and the tragedy's still fresh for them. "It's sad nature took Tilikum's life, but he lived 7 more years than Dawn did, and we have to live with it." Marion admits having mixed feelings about the death of Tilikum ... who drowned Dawn by taking her underwater by her ponytail. The attack was infamously chronicled in the "Blackfish" documentary. Despite the tragedy, Marion says her family still works with SeaWorld to host charity runs in Dawn's name. She added ... Dawn loved Tilikum, and they believe her death was a tragic accident. (TMZ)

Ed Sheeran Is Back With New Music! Listen to "Shape of You" and "Castle On the Hill." Ed Sheeran is still part of music's A team. After much anticipation and suspense, the "Thinking Out Loud" singer fulfilled his promise to release a brand-new track Friday morning at the stroke of midnight. Let's just say Sheerios are going to be quite happy with what they hear. "When I was six years old I broke my leg... " the Grammy winner sings in the track titled "Castle on the Hill." But wait, there's more. Ed also released a second song called "Shape of You." The new tracks come after Ed spent more than a year away from social media. During that time period, he also chose to stay away from the stage except for rare instances. One of those occasions was back in November when he stopped by the East Anglian Children's Hospices Gala to make his first official performance of the year. In between performing in front of close to 350 lucky guests, the musician discussed his much-deserved break. "It's nice to be back. I've had a whole year off," he shared with the audience. "I went to Japan for about a month... This is the first time I've done a show in a year, so please bear with me." Back in December 2015, the British singer first revealed to fans that he was taking a break from social media to go out and experience the real world. "Hello all. I am taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while," Ed wrote on Instagram. "I've had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed." He continued, "To my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing." Fortunately, Ed has proven yet again that he's a man of his word thanks to his new tracks. Welcome back, sir. You've been missed. (Eonline) Fifth Harmony Releases First Official Photo Without Camila Cabello. Well, guys, here's your new Fifth Harmony. Less than a month after fans heard the shocking news of member Camila Cabello's exit, the girl group released their first official photograph as a foursome on Twitter. The red-hot snapshot shows remaining members Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui having some fun for the camera while strutting various coordinating outfits. The photo was simply captioned, "Twenty Seventeen." In mid-December, the pop girl group took to Instagram to announce that Cabello had decided to leave the chart-topping group. "After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony," the statement read. "We wish her well." It continued, "You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you've supported us, and with your love and support, we will continue on. That being said, we are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us- Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors." "We are excited for our future, and we can't wait for what the New Year brings. Harmonizers, we are in this together. We love you with all of our heart," their lengthy message concluded. The situation quickly turned into back-and-forth between Camila and Fifth Harmony, with the band finally setting the record straight one last time. The ladies confirmed that in mid-November, they were informed by Camila's manager that she would be leaving the group, also noting they tried to get Camila to stay. "So no, after months of rejection from her and her team, these supposed lengthy conversations in fact never happened, although we pleaded," the statement read. "We have tried with exhausted efforts and hearts to keep this group alive as the five of us, and we want it to be very clear that unfortunately those efforts were not mutual." While fans have been trying to get a grasp on this big change, they were also able to see the five ladies together one last time on New Year's Eve. Cabello appeared with the other girls during a two-song performance "Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" as it was pre-taped before her exit. (Eonline)

Birdman is doing a complete 180 over Lil Wayne's long-awaited 'Carter V' album ... because he's now vowing it WILL see the light of day. Baby went on Ebro's Beats 1 radio show this week to talk details about the album, and he made one thing clear ... "it's definitely coming out." Sounds like he's ready to put the legal war with Weezy behind him -- possibly because someone already got their paws on it. It remains to be seen if Wayne wants to squash the beef, and Birdman still didn't mention a release date. So ... #FreeTheCarter (TMZ)

Kane Brown and His Team Aim for a Radio Breakthrough In 2017. Brown scored a No. 1 Album in 2016 without a big radio hit. Can a new country artist break big without the widespread support of radio? Historically, the answer to that question has been no, but 23-year-old Zone 4/Sony Music Nashville artist Kane Brown may prove to be an exception. Brown came to prominence in ways still considered nontraditional in the country format: TV and social media. He appeared on Fox's The X Factor in 2013 (and also auditioned unsuccessfully for American Idol). From there, he began building his social media presence by posting low key, yet wildly popular videos on his Facebook page featuring himself performing country song covers and some originals. His Facebook fan base now numbers more than 2 million followers. "He was posting raw, acoustic covers on Facebook from his apartment," says Sony Music Nashville executive vp promotion and artist development Steve Hodges. "No studio, no band, no stage, no lights, no postproduction, nothing. Just a guy with a unique voice, a love for the music and a story to tell. Although he has amassed a huge social platform, it all started very real, intimate, believable and small." In the past, country radio has rarely opened the door wide for TV talent show contestants (Carrie Underwood being among a handful of notable exceptions). And until Brown, country really hadn't been confronted with a serious contender who -- like Justin Bieber in the pop world -- gained his initial fan following on social media rather than hustling through years of club gigs before landing a label deal. In fact, Brown had never played live until November 2015, shortly before he got signed to Sony. Since then, he has made up for lost time on the touring front with more than 200 dates in 2016, including opening Florida Georgia Line's Dig Your Roots Tour, as well as headlining more than 60 of his own shows. Many of his club gigs were sellouts, according to Braeden Rountree, Brown's agent at William Morris Endeavor. While most of those were in 1,500- to 2,000-capacity rooms, his bigger sellouts have included 4,000 tickets at Coyote Joe's in Charlotte, N.C., and he landed a sponsorship from Monster Energy Drink. "All of this," says Rountree, "has been without a major hit at terrestrial country radio." Indeed, radio has yet to warm up to Brown. First single "Used to Love You Sober," picked up by Sony after it had already taken off on social media, peaked at No. 35 on the Country Airplay chart in May 2016. Follow-up "Thunder In The Rain" stalled at No. 43 in October, but re-enters Country Airplay in the new year at No. 57. "Kane created his massive and loyal fan base through very nontraditional means for the country format, and that's a difficult thing sometimes for people to understand," says Brown's manager, EFG's Martha Earls. "He got his music directly to his fans and we have, at times, found ourselves having to explain to people his authenticity. What's ironic about that is it doesn't get any more authentic than a direct artist-to-fan connection." Earls, who has worked with Brown since the summer of 2015, thinks fans were drawn to the striking, biracial, heavily tattooed and quietly charismatic artist because "they see themselves in him. They appreciate his honesty and love his traditional country voice matched with his modern image." His self-titled RCA Nashville debut album (for which Brown co-wrote seven of the 11 tracks) arrived at No. 1 on Top Country Albums and No. 10 on the Billboard 200 in the week following its early December 2016 release, with sales of 45,000 copies (and 51,000 equivalent album units on the all-genre consumption chart), according to Nielsen Music. Those sales were bolstered by major TV bookings on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Today, spots on multiple "artist to watch" lists at print and digital media outlets and his live shows. "When he began touring, the fan connection became massively stronger," says Earls. "The casual fan became a rabid fan," and his solo dates "legitimized him as a touring act." Brown recently watched a recording of his first live show, in Darlington, S.C., that was packed with cover songs. "If I was a fan in the audience [that night], I would have been like 'What the heck did I just buy this ticket for?' " he jokes. Since then, Brown has observed and learned from Florida Georgia Line and the other acts on the FGL tour, and eagerly absorbed advice from the duo, its band and crew. "It's very impressive to see how far he has come in such a short amount of time," says WME's Rountree, who calls Brown "a humble and genuine guy." His success on the touring front, adds Rountree, "speaks to the kind of work ethic and attention to detail he has." Airplay chart numbers notwithstanding, there have been pockets of early support for Brown at FM radio. Hodges cites Brown's hometown station, WUSY Chattanooga, Tenn., among them, along with KEEY Minneapolis, KJKE Oklahoma City, KMPS Seattle, WIL St. Louis and WKLI Albany, N.Y., which he says all "have over 300 spins on 'Thunder in the Rain.' " Brown admits that the slow going at radio has been "kind of frustrating," but adds, "My fans are ... what got me here, so that's what we're living off of right now. I want them to play my songs on the radio because I'm always thinking of how much we could blow this thing up, hopefully, but you got to respect that we did come off social media, so [radio programmers] don't know who I am." He also didn't make the rounds on the kind of traditional radio tour most new country artists spend months doing, although Brown has tried to spend as much time with radio personnel as possible while on tour and work in acoustic shows for radio stations where feasible, including what he calls "a crapload of guitar pulls." "In country radio, everybody has such a connection and a bond," he says, "so you've got to meet them." The label staff and Earls are taking their time choosing a third single, knowing it will be a critical swing. They're planning to go for adds in early February. "We intentionally wanted our partners at radio, satellite, digital service providers and the fans to live with the album and ingest the music, before choosing a single," says Hodges. Adds Earls: "Fortunately, Kane has made a great and deep album, so we're not struggling to find good songs. We're struggling to narrow it down to one." Once chosen, Hodges says that third single will come complete with "a multifaceted campaign to support it at radio. We'll continue to shake hands and make time for as many people that have time for us. There's nothing like getting the chance to sit down with Kane and hear his story straight from the source. He's a very compelling and engaging young man." "All of the analytics," says Hodges, "point to success for this artist." Brown is keenly aware that "everybody's got high expectations for me," and says, "I just don't want to let anybody down." At the same time, he adds, "The competitive side of me wants ... to exceed their expectations." (Billboard)

Wiz Khalifa & Rostrum Records Founder Benjy Grinberg Settle Legal Disputes. "Both parties are pleased with the outcome and look forward to putting this matter behind them." Wiz Khalifa has settled a lawsuit with his former manager Benjy Grinberg and his record label Rostrum Records, the parties tell Billboard. Khalifa began working with Grinberg in 2004 and signed a 360 deal the following year that included one album and five options for additional albums. The relationship lasted until 2014 when Khalifa released his sixth LP, Khalifa. In his lawsuit, filed last May, the rapper sought more than $1 million in damages, as well as attorneys' fees and further punitive damages, alleging that Grinberg and the label profited from "virtually every aspect of plaintiff's professional life" and entered a "series of other transactions, all in further violation of the rule against self-dealing." In response, Grinberg filed paperwork looking to recover "millions of dollars in unpaid monies" from the Pittsburgh emcee. On Friday (Jan. 6), the two parties announced a joint settlement agreement, resolving the disputes. "Wiz Khalifa and Rostrum Records Founder Benjy Grinberg announced today that all disputes between the two parties have been resolved following a joint settlement agreement," reads a joint statement. "This agreement includes the dismissal of lawsuits that each party had previously filed against each other earlier this year. Both parties are pleased with the outcome and look forward to putting this matter behind them." (Billboard)

Ed Sheeran Debated Giving Rihanna His New Song 'Shape of You'. If you're one of the millions of Ed Sheeran fans listening to his new songs Friday morning (Jan. 6) and you happen to think of Rihanna while dancing to "Shape of You," you're not alone -- Sheeran did the same when he wrote it. In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show Friday, Sheeran revealed that he debated handing his bouncy new tune over to the Barbadian singer after he was done writing it. "['Shape of You'] is actually a really random one because I went in to write songs for other people with a guy called Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid, and we were writing this song and I was like 'this would really work for Rihanna,'" he explained. "And then I started singing lyrics like 'putting Van The Man on the jukebox' and I was like 'well she's not really going to sing that, is she?' And then we sort of decided halfway through that we were just going to make it for me." Although "Shape of You" was decidedly going to belong to Sheeran, he wasn't even planning on it being on the new album (for which he didn't reveal a release date during the interview). "This was the last song that was finished, and I just didn't put two and two together that this was even going to be on the album. I just kind of wrote it and was like 'oh, that was fun.'" But once he brought the song to his label -- with Rudimental in mind this time -- they insisted he should record it for his own catalog. We couldn't agree more. (Billboard)

Supermassive's 'Hollow Days': Exclusive Premiere of Debut Single From Ex-Divot Members. Today, Billboard is hosting the streaming premiere of "Hollow Days," the debut single from hard-rock duo Supermassive, featuring vocalist/bassist Cliff Hodson and drummer Jeff Siptrott, formerly of the band Divot. The pair -- which decided to continue as a duo as the result of "taking a risk and trying something new," says Hodson -- hopes the song will kick off a productive year. "We are going to be doing as much touring as possible, for sure. We are also going to release the music video for 'Hollow Days' very soon," promises Hodson. "Everything else is up in the air at this point, but we are going to bust our asses to make sure that 2017 is a good year." The Elmira, New York, act put together a three-song EP in May 2016 under the eye of producer Jim Kaufman (Anti-Flag, Helmet, Opiate for the Masses). "Jim is a great dude, and recording with him was an awesome experience," enthuses Hodson. "We got in touch with Jim through a mutual friend of ours. We showed him some demos of the stuff that he really liked, so we drove out to L.A. and spent a week there tracking the EP." Hodson describes Supermassive's sound as "raw and authentic ... Everything we write kind of just happens when we are jamming in a room together, so we try our best to keep that visceral energy intact since it's the best representation of who we are. I'm a huge fan of rock music from the '90s and early 2000s. Our biggest inspirations are bands like Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Machine, Alice and Queens of the Stone Age." He explains that Supermassive was moved to write "Hollow Days" due to "the time period that we are living in and how people are coping with it." (Billboard)

Box Office: Will Apocalyptic Smog Hurt 'Rogue One' in China This Weekend? As seasonal air pollution in dozens of Chinese cities hits dangerous levels, some film fans are expected to stay home. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story faces one final test in its mission for global box office dominance: China, the world's no. 2 movie market. The wildly successful Disney film will have to contend with a foe more fearsome than Stormtroopers and TIE Fighters this weekend when it finally enters the Middle Kingdom, however. Rogue One's China opening could be hindered by Beijing's apocalyptic air pollution. Over the past few weeks, heavy smog in northern China has caused hundreds of flights to be canceled as visibility dropped to as low as 150 feet in some locations. On Tuesday, at least two dozen cities issued "red alerts" for pollution, China's highest rating for hazardous air. Over the New Year holiday weekend, China's box office dropped 23 percent, compared with the year-ago period, with revenue falling to 662 million Chinese yuan ($95.6 million) from 863 million yuan ($124.7 million) in 2016. The decline came after a slowdown at China's box office, which began last spring. But some Chinese analysts believe the slip was considerably worsened by the hazardous air blanketing much of the country over the holiday. Box office in heavily smog-affected regions in Northern China, such as Beijing and Tianjin, saw box office fall as much as 34 percent, year on year, according to local media reports. Clear-skied areas in the south experienced just a 13 percent slip, meanwhile. Families and couples, rather than groups of young friends, were the moviegoer categories most likely to shun cinemas and stay home out of concern for their health, the reports said. On Friday evening, many neighborhoods in Beijing registered an air quality index of nearly 300. The U.S. government, via its embassy in Beijing, rates readings above 200 "very unhealthy," and 301 to 500 as "hazardous." Forecasters don't expect the air to clear until Sunday or Monday. "Some people who would have checked out Rogue One are going to stay home with their air purifiers this weekend -- there's no question," said a Beijing-based producer working for a Hollywood studio, who asked not to be named. "How many is harder to say. Sadly, many of us who have lived in Beijing a long time are just used to this." Rogue One was designed with the Chinese market in mind. Since the original three films in the saga were never released theatrically in the country -- and the much-derided prequels came out before the Chinese box-office boom had kicked off in earnest -- the adventures of Luke and Leia remain a galaxy far, far away to many moviegoers there. Force Awakens grossed a healthy $124.1 million in China, but that's almost half the $240.1 million that Avengers: Age of Ultron earned there (more on the franchise's unique challenges in China). With Rogue One, Disney has taken a big step towards bringing China into the fold by casting two of the country's top stars: Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen, aka Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus. So far, the characters and their chemistry have been roundly embraced by international critics and fans alike -- which is an especially good sign for the China market (for more on the accomplished two Chinese actors' backgrounds, see here). Past Hollywood productions have seen their efforts to woo Chinese fans backfire. Social media users in the country are understandably skeptical of token castings of major Chinese stars in minor roles in Western movies. The brief appearances of Wang Xueqi and Fan Bingbing in Iron Man 3 (2013), for example, were widely derided as pandering. Chinese actress Angelababy appeared in a bigger part in Fox's Independence Day: Resurgence last summer, but many Chinese viewers still complained that her character was essentially dispensable. Already, Rogue One seems to be getting a better reception. In an article released in late December, Global Times, an influential state-backed newspaper, wrote: "Although many Chinese netizens suspected that Jiang and Yen's inclusion in Rogue One was yet another pure market-driven choice, the two stars have much bigger roles in the film than previous attempts to include Chinese actors." "Jiang and Yen do stand out," the paper added, quoting a fan. Since its U.S. release on Dec. 16, the Star Wars spinoff has earned $829 million around the world. Whether the onscreen bromance of Baze and Chirrut can carry Rogue One through Beijing's noxious smog towards the $1 billion mark will be clear by Monday. (Hollywood Reporter)

Is Nina Dobrev Returning For The Vampire Diaries Series Finale? Elena Gilbert, where art thou? The Vampire Diaries is set to air its series finale on Friday, March 10, and the biggest mystery heading into the final run of episodes is whether or not Nina Dobrev will return for the long-running hit's swan song. But at the 2017 Winter TCA Press Tour on Sunday, The CW president Mark Pedowitz did not have any official news to share. "The best way I can answer that question is Julie [Plec], Kevin [Williamson], the studio and the CW promise a fantastic series finale," Pedowitz said when asked if Dobrev, who will next be seen in XXX: Return of Xander Cage alongside Vin Diesel, will return for one final goodbye with the Salvatore brothers. In August, Pedowitz said the network was having "discussions" with Dobrev about returning after she exited the series at the end of season six. "There are discussions going on with Nina, we'd love to have her back," he said at the time. "These are discussions that go on, hopefully she'll be back, but should it not work out, Julie has planned out a great series finale for fans." Other notable news to come out of The CW's presentation? While The Originals is a spinoff of TVD, it could very well go on after viewers say goodbye to Mystic Falls depending on how it performs when it returns for its fourth season on March 17. "Julie and I spoke ahead of time about this... it will probably be a discussion in May," Pedowitz said of the show's future. "I am a big Julie Plec fan... I am hoping The Originals will continue, a lot of it will depend on performance." Switching from vampires to witches, Pedowitz also answered questions about the network's recently ordered Charmed reboot from Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman, including whether or not any original cast members could appear. While Pedowitz stressed the 1976-set reboot would be "standalone" series, he said, "In terms of whether the actresses will come into the series, we'll see what happens as the series goes on. That's to be determined." The original Charmed starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Shannen Doherty and Rose McGowan. After the news broke, Combs tweeted her reaction, saying "We wish them well." Milano also took to Twitter. "#Charmed fans! There are no fans like you. You're the best of the best," she said. The CW Renews 7 Shows: Did Your Favorite Make the Cut? It's raining renewals! The CW has handed out early pick-ups to seven of its current shows for the 2017-18 season, with fan-favorites such as The Flash, Arrow and Supernatural (heading into its 13th season!) earning renewals. The four other series to receive good news when the announcement was made at the 2017 Winter TCA Press Tour on Sunday were Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. The shows yet to receive pick-up or cancellation news include the network's two new freshman series, Frequency and No Tomorrow, as well as The 100, which returns for its fourth season on Feb. 1, The Originals, which will return in March, and iZombie, returning in April. "Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas," network president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. "Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long." Later this year, The CW will say goodbye to long-running hit The Vampire Diaries, and will also air the series finale of Reign. Set to make its debut on Jan. 26 is Riverdale, an edgy new take on the Archie comics that will mark Greg Berlanti's fifth DC property on the network in addition to the superhero slate. The network recently ordered a reboot of Charmed, the witchy WB series that aired from 1998-2006. Featuring a new cast, the show will revolve around three witches who come together to fight the forces of evil (and fight for women's rights) in a New England town in 1976. (Eonline)

'Golden Girls' Coming to Hulu Feb 13. The streaming service has also landed exclusive rights to ABC's 'Black-ish.' Hulu has landed streaming rights to the Golden Girls. "This marks the first time that the complete library of one of the most popular sitcoms will be available to stream all in one place -- on Hulu," said Hulu senior vp and head of content Craig Erwich in making the announcement Saturday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Golden Girls episodes will be available to stream to Hulu subscribers starting Feb. 13 -- a date that Erwich reminded critics was "Galentine's Day." The Touchstone/Buena Vista produced series comes as Hulu has renewed its deal with Disney. The pact also will see ABC Studios-produced dramas Body of Proof, Desperate Housewives and Private Practice come to the streaming service. Golden Girls joins a Hulu library that also includes the entire library of Seinfeld. Hulu also announced that it has landed exclusive streaming rights to ABC's Black-ish, bringing the first two seasons to the platform that is already home to current episodes of the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated comedy. This Is Us' Chrissy Metz Is Getting Stopped on the Street by Strangers Over That Major Toby Cliffhanger. "Literally, a woman walked up to me yesterday and said, 'Oh my god, I'm so sorry about your boyfriend!'" The wait for resolution from that massive This Is Us cliffhanger that saw Toby (Chris Sullivan) suffer a heart attack after surprising Kate (Chrissy Metz) on Christmas has been so excruciating that people are actually stopping Metz on the street to offer their condolences and concern over her fictional boyfriend. "Yes, it's a major cliffhanger. The writers are incredible with that they do. They just hold you on the edge of the couch, crying, sobbing," the Golden Globe-nominated actress (for Best Supporting Actress) told E! News' Carissa Culiner while she was fitted for her custom-designed Christian Siriano dress. "It's so exciting when people don't care about what I'm doing, or Kate. They're like, 'What about Toby?' I'm like, 'Yes!' Because Chris, I adore him. I would not be here without him. He's so instrumental in my process, in my acting. It's a major cliffhanger, and we don't know what's gonna happen." One thing we do know for sure when the hit NBC series returns on Tuesday, Jan. 10? There will be tears. "There's a lot of really emotional stuff happening. A lot of decisions to be made, a lot of choices," Metz teased. "And you have to really just expect the unexpected, as cliche as that might sound. They just get you good, those writers." While Toby's ultimate fate will be revealed in the first episode back, there's another revelation that Metz is ready for the fans to see: How beloved Pearson patriarch Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) died. "I think, for me, because the audience is so excited and also afraid and sad that we don't know how Jack passed away. We don't know that story yet," she said. "I think that's gonna be really, really interesting for everyone to see." This Is Us returns Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 10 p.m. on NBC. (Eonline)

Could Beloved Soap Opera Days of Our Lives Be Canceled for New Megyn Kelly Gig? Days of Our Lives fans, you might want to sit down for this one. Speculation about what Megyn Kelly's official new role at NBC will be has been running high since her exit from Fox News was announced Tuesday -- but what could that mean for the network's long-running daytime drama Days of Our Lives? A source connected to the beloved soap opera tells PEOPLE that several cast members have been told that this upcoming year of the series will likely be its last. Days is one of the longest-running scripted television programs in the world, airing nearly every weekday since Nov. 8, 1965. According to the insider, for several years now, the show has been renewed on a year-to-year basis -- but the current contract for the show only carries them through 2017. The source says executives at the show have given some key staffers indication that their days are numbered. "Basically, we've heard that there won't be a Days in 2018," says the source associated with the show, which recently celebrated its 51st anniversary on the network. While Kelly's official new role remains undecided, NBC News chairman Andrew Lack has offered the journalist three new gigs at the network, including a chance to host her own daytime news and discussion program, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and a role taking part in the network's special political programming and other big event coverage. In many markets, Days currently airs in the coveted 1–2 p.m. slot, which could be prime real estate for a potential daytime talk show hosted by Kelly, 46. And it wouldn't be the first time a major network made such a move: ABC famously canceled long-running soaps All My Children and One Life to Live in 2011 to make way for daytime talk shows The Chew and the short-lived The Revolution. ABC also moved General Hospital from its longstanding time slot in 2012 to pave the way for Katie Couric's daytime talk show, Katie, which ended in 2014. CBS canceled the long-running Guiding Light and replaced it with the more budget-friendly Let's Make A Deal reboot. Meanwhile, a source told PEOPLE Friday that decisions about Kelly's role have not yet been made -- though the current Today show lineup is not expected to change, with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie remaining in their roles as co-anchors. "Nobody knows when Megyn starts," says the insider. "She is still under contract at Fox until July, then she has a six-month non-compete [clause]." "Nobody knows what she is going to be doing," said the source. "There is so much that has to still be arranged. It's definitely not like she's starting on the Today show Monday morning!" Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC (check local listings). (People)

The Good Fight Looks Even More Stylish Than The Good Wife (Who Thought That Was Possible?) The Good Fight is going to get nasty, the trailer warned, but what they didn't tell you is things will get nasty, but in style. CBS All Access released the first images -- including gallery shots and episodic stills -- from The Good Wife spinoff and naturally it looks like one of the most stylish shows on TV. Christine Baranski returns as Diane Lockhart alongside returning cast members Cush Jumbo as Lucca Quinn and Sarah Steele as Marissa Gold. They're joined by new additions to The Good Wife world Game of Thrones veteran Rose Leslie, Justified's Erica Tazel, Delroy Lindo and Justin Bartha. Recurring players include Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters. The Good Fight picks up one year after the events of The Good Wife series finale. Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) isn't around anymore -- can you blame her after that slap? -- and Lucca is at a new firm. And Diane? Well, Diane finds herself in financial ruin after a scheme wipes her out and ruins the reputation of her goddaughter, Maia, played by Leslie. They then join Lucca at her new law firm. There will be plenty of new faces, but of course players from The Good Wife world will be involved. Carrie Preston will return as Elsbeth Tascioni for a series of episodes in the show's 10-episode first season. Zach Grenier will return as David Lee and Jerry Adler's Howard Lyman will also return to the fold. The Good Wife co-creators Robert and Michelle King are on board as showrunners and executive producers on the series. The first episode of The Good Fight will premiere Sunday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. on CBS proper. New episodes will be available for streaming on CBS All Access on following Sundays. (Eonline)

Savannah Guthrie Makes a Surprise Return to Today on Matt Lauer's 20th Anniversary. Matt Lauer kicks off most days next to Savannah Guthrie, so his 20th anniversary on Today couldn't go any other way. The Today co-anchor was showered with praise Friday morning while celebrating two official decades with the morning news program. While Guthrie and colleague Dylan Dreyer have been on maternity leave for the week of celebrations, they would not miss the opportunity to surprise their work partner on the plaza. "What are you doing?" Lauer asked Guthrie in shock when he spotted her on set. "I couldn't miss it!" she told him as they gave each other a big hug. "You texted me 20 minutes ago," he added. "It's so good to see you guys! How are you?" Still, he was hoping there were two more surprises. "Where are the babies? Did you bring the babies?" he inquired. "This is your moment," Guthrie reminded him. "We did not want to miss it." "This is the first time we've seen each other since like the first day you had your baby," Lauer revealed. Guthrie gave birth to her second child, son Charles Max Feldman, in early December. Still, she could squeeze in some brief time away to help celebrate her professional role model. "Matt, you know this, but I've looked up to you all my life because you're so old," she joked in front of the crowd. "I just want to say we adore you." "Sending all kinds of love to @MLauer on his 20th @TODAYshow anniversary. A class act, great friend and once in a generation talent," the journalist tweeted before the big reveal. Once the surprise was over, the lucky lady headed home to shed her heels. "So fun to surprise @MLauer on his 20th!" she wrote to followers. "Now, back home to my sweat pants #ML20." (Eonline)

Scott Michael Foster Is Coming to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to Shake Everything Up. Get ready, West Covina -- because change is a-coming! As Crazy Ex-Girlfriend returned from its holiday hiatus with back-to-back episodes, it marked the arrival of its heavily anticipated new recurring guest star, Scott Michael Foster. The Greek alum makes his first appearance in the second episode of the evening, and his character throws just about everyone else's lives into something of a tailspin. "Nathaniel Plimpton III -- his full legal name -- is a lawyer who works for his father's firm in big, bad Los Angeles. And he gets assigned to this new firm that his company has taken over: Whitefeather & Associates," Foster told E! News during a visit to set as he filmed his first episode. "And he's sent there to make money for the company and prove himself to Daddy." You read that right: Darryl Whitefeather (Pete Gardner) is no longer the master of his own domain. When the new boss threatens layoffs as he works to make West Covina's wackiest law firm somewhat profitable, everyone goes into manic mode, including Rebecca (Rachel Bloom). "Nathaniel is, in many ways, everything Rebecca ran away from. It's almost like her past is coming back to haunt her. It's not like Audra Levine coming in for an episode and leaving, it's not like her mother," Bloom teased. "This is the symbol of everything she ran away from, and so the question is: Who will change who more?" While Rebecca initially challenges Nathaniel's plans, trying to convince him to keep her friends employed, the dynamic between the pair just might shift as the season continues. "There's a sprout of tension there between them. Whether it's purely platonic or sexual, there's something there," Foster teased. "They're obviously butting heads for more than just business reasons." (Though just a recurring guest star for the remainder of the season, it was reported at the time of Foster's casting that the character would potentially become regular should the CW do the right thing and order a third season.) Though he won't make his singing debut just yet, Foster admitted that there's a song in his first episode that he couldn't get enough of. "There's one that we're shooting this episode... I can't get it out of my head. It's sort of about my entrance and how they react to who I am," he told us. "It's really, really funny. It's one of those earworms where I've been singing it for day... So, that one's stuck in my head. It'll get stuck in yours too." Crazy Ex-Girlfriend returned with two back-to-back new episodes on Friday, Jan. 6 on the CW. (Eonline)

One Day at a Time Continues Netflix's Winning Reboot Hot Streak With a Welcome Update of the Norman Lear Classic. Netflix is on a reboot roll. After successfully reviving Full House with the aptly titled Fuller House and taking us back to Stars Hollow with four nearly perfect episodes of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the streaming giant is once again trying their hand at another familiar property with an updated take on the Norman Lear classic One Day at a Time. And true to form, they're still batting a thousand. Created by Gloria Calderon Kellet (How I Met Your Mother) and Mike Royce (Everybody Loves Raymond) -- and executive produced by the legendary Lear himself -- this isn't your mother's One Day at a Time. With the luminous Justina Machado not exactly stepping into Bonnie Franklin's shoes, as much as replacing them with ones all her own, as Penelope, this iteration's matriarch, the new series opts for a more unique story centered around three generations of Cuban-Americans. And any ideas about that detracting from the universality of the series ought to be dispelled immediately. It's that very specificity that makes the comedy sing. (It doesn't hurt that it's also very funny, too.) "You know, it's interesting. I actually think specificity leads to universality. I really do," Calderon Kellett told E! News "I keep talking about Master of None, that episode [Aziz Ansari] did with his parents. I'm not an Asian man. I totally felt it, I got it, I knew it. And I think it's because it was so specific. I think the moment you're like, 'This needs to appeal to everyone' you lose something." And she's right. Through the show's hyper-specificity, there's an instant warmth, an instant familiarity, an instant lived-in feel. In short, One Day at a Time feels like instant family. Machado shines as Penelope, the recently divorced single mom who also happens to be an Iraqi War vet suffering from PTSD. The performance is nothing short of a star finally finding her star-making role. And the players surrounding her are no slouches either. While she has no clear counterpart in the original (the decision to include a third generation in the mix right off the bat is unique to the revival), the incomparable Rita Moreno elevates every scene she's in as Penelope's mother, Lydia. Scenes between Penelope and Lydia can flip from wickedly funny to tenderly poignant on a dime, reminding you why one actress is a living legend and why the other just might be following in her footsteps. (Note: Nanette Fabray began recurring as Grandma Katherine Romano in the fourth season of the original, before becoming a series regular in the ninth and final season.) Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz, as Penelope's daughter Elena and son Alex, respectively, more than hold their own with these two forces of nature. Gomez, especially, is given the chance to shine in a special storyline that progresses throughout the season -- and she does not disappoint. And because you can't do One Day at a Time without Schnieder, Todd Grinnell reinvents the classic building superintendent character as a younger riff on the privileged white liberal male -- a role that could grate, yet Grinnell succeeds in making charming. True to Lear form, the series doesn't shy away from serious issues facing Americans today, including immigration, sexism and the treatment of veterans, among others. And no one really does it like the master. Where other issues-based sitcoms can sometimes feel a bit Sunday school-like, One Day at a Time's approach never feels forced or like it has to reach for the laugh before commercial break to make sure you're still watching when they come back. With no breaks to worry about, the episodes feel like stage plays, one that allows for quiet moments amid the laughs. And talk about the timeliness. With the current state of the world, this warm and compassionate examination of the issues couldn't be more welcome. "I think it's gonna be so relevant. So relevant," Moreno told us. "Given all the stuff that's gone on. We don't even have to say what it is because we know." "I think it's important to see how this family deals with it. I think it's important to see all the love that this family has for each other, and the compassion and the tolerance," Machado reiterated. "We're not doing a show about Latino people, we're doing a show about a family. We just happen to be a Latino cast. Which is important to us...That we are represented the way we want to be seen. We all deal with the same stuff, every single one of us. We just maybe might deal with it a little different because of culture." We couldn't have said it better ourselves. The complete first season of One Day at a Time is available to stream on Netflix. (Eonline)

NBC talent is in a frenzy that Megyn Kelly is being groomed to eventually take over Savannah Guthrie's role at the "Today" show" after NBC News boss Andy Lack stunned everyone this week by signing her. Multiple sources told Page Six the talk at 30 Rock Thursday was that Kelly could take the top job at "Today." "There is a rumor on set that Megyn would eventually get the lead anchor role on 'Today,' pushing Savannah out," an insider said. Kelly had been in talks with rivals ABC and CNN, but opted for NBC after she was promised a daytime slot and a Sunday night show. But "the 9 a.m. hour of 'Today' is likely not her goal. She is angling for something else," an insider told us of the gossip around 30 Rock. But a high-level NBC source countered that Guthrie, who is on maternity leave, just signed a five-year deal with "Today." "We just signed Savannah to a massive deal that is longer than Megyn's. A lead anchor role at 'Today' isn't part of the conversation for Megyn. The goal was simply to get someone of Megyn's talent and caliber through the door at NBC. We have not made a decision on her daytime slot. It is being discussed." Kelly had also been aggressively courted by ABC, with insiders saying there were talks about pushing Robin Roberts out in order to make her lead anchor with Michael Strahan on "Good Morning America." And despite meeting with her multiple times, an ABC rep told us of the "GMA" offer: "As much as we appreciate and admire Megyn Kelly's talents, this is simply not true. There was never an offer of any job." Several sources insist NBC rushed to hire Kelly because she was in talks with ABC and they wanted to prevent her from signing with "GMA." "NBC execs are scrambling to find a spot for Megyn because Lack desperately wanted to beat his rivals," one insider said. "This is a new morning show war and Megyn was the big prize." A "Today" rep said, "No, Megyn is not being 'groomed'; the senior leadership of NBC News expects to be long-retired and sleeping in while Savannah is still rising early and anchoring Today." Jim Sturgess to Star in Hulu Drama 'Hard Sun' From 'Luther' Creator. Agyness Deyn will co-star in the BBC One-produced series. Jim Sturgess has booked his next TV gig. The Feed the Beast and Close to the Enemy grad has been tapped to star in Hulu drama Hard Sun, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, with Agyness Deyn (Sunset Song) set to co-star. Picked up to series in December 2015, Hard Sun hails from Luther creator Neil Cross. Sturgess and Deyn will play detectives Robert Hicks and Elaine Renko, respectively, partners and enemies who seek to enforce the law and protect their loved ones in a world that every day slips closer to certain destruction. Hicks is a family man and a great, committed officer. He's also profoundly corrupt. Renko is a difficult and damaged, but utterly incorruptible, officer. The duo stand on different ends of the social and moral spectrum and also seriously distrust one other -- and for good reason. But they must somehow learn to work together if they're going to survive until the end of the world. BAFTA and Emmy nominee Cross will pen the script and exec produce alongside Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones), who directs alongside fellow EP Hugh Warren (Call the Midwife). Euston Films' Kate Harwood and BBC One's Elizabeth Kilgarriff will also exec produce. Filming is set to begin this month in London. Sturgess is fresh off AMC's one-and-done drama Feed the Beast and Acorn mini Close to the Enemy. Repped by CAA, his credits include Cloud Atlas and Across the Universe. Deyn's credits include Clash of the Titans and Hail, Caesar. She's with UTA. Hard Sun joins a roster of upcoming originals at Hulu that includes The Handmaid's Tale, Harlots, Future Man, National Treasure and The Looming Tower. (Hollywood Reporter)

'Charmed' Reboot in the Works at The CW. The 'Jane the Virgin' team, including showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman, is behind the show set in the 1970s. The CW is adding another reboot to its development slate. Following a prolonged negotiation, the network is reteaming with Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman for a Charmed reboot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The drama is described as a reimagining of the original TV series set in 1976. The reboot will be connected to the original series in some fashion, though it's not entirely clear at this point how that will come to pass. Jane the Virgin writers Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin created the story. The script will be written by O'Toole and Rardin. Propagate Content's Ben Silverman, who executive produces Jane alongside O'Toole, Rardin and Urman, will serve in the same capacity. Jane director Brad Silberling also will exec produce and direct the pilot. The project, which received a script commitment, hails from CBS Television Studios, where both Urman and Silberling are under overall deals. The Charmed reboot comes more than three years after CBS announced plans to remake the original series, which ran on The WB Network for eight seasons from 1998-2006 and starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan. The original was created by Constance M. Burge and exec produced by Aaron Spelling. CBS Television Studios, which owns the rights to Spelling's vast TV library, was attached to exec produce the CBS reboot in 2013. That project hailed from Party of Five co-creator Chris Keyser and Sydney Sidner. The CBS reboot, which never went beyond the development stage, did not receive support from original stars Milano and McGowan. "The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close," Milano wrote. McGowan, meanwhile, thought the project lacked originality. "They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood," she wrote, adding: "lame lame lame lamertons." For The CW, the Charmed reboot arrives as the younger-skewing network is poised to say farewell to The Vampire Diaries with the future of its spinoff, The Originals, unclear without the flagship. Charmed also marks the latest reboot in the works for The CW, which is already prepping Dynasty with The O.C. grads Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Reboots continue to remain in high demand as broadcast, cable and streaming outlets look for proved IP in a bid to cut through a cluttered scripted landscape that is quickly approaching 500 original series. Key to the remakes is having the original producers involved in some capacity as more studios look to monetize their existing film libraries. (With Charmed, CBS TV Studios owning the rights to the Spelling library fulfills that commitment.) Already in the works this season are reboots of Car Wash (ABC), Sneakers (NBC), Enemy of the State (ABC), War of the Worlds (MTV), Magnum P.I. (ABC), The Lost Boys (The CW), Varsity Blues (CMT), The Departed (Amazon),Let the Right One In (TNT) and L.A. Law, among others. (Hollywood Reporter)

The Surprising Reason Megyn Kelly May Not Start at NBC for Nearly a Year. Megyn Kelly has taken the next step in her career -- but it won't be unfolding just yet. News that the longtime Fox News anchor was leaving the network for a new role at NBC News broke on Tuesday and speculation about what position Kelly, 46, might fill has been running high ever since. Now, a source tells PEOPLE that decisions have not yet been made -- though the current Today show lineup is not expected to change, with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie remaining in their roles as co-anchors. "Nobody knows when Megyn starts," says the insider. "She is still under contract at Fox until July, then she has a six-month non-compete [clause]." According to the source, "nobody knows what she is going to be doing." "Fox might let her out of the non-compete, but they might not," the insider adds. "There is so much that has to still be arranged. It's definitely not like she's starting on the Today show Monday morning!" And while her official new role remains undecided, NBC News chairman Andrew Lack has offered the journalist three new gigs at the network, including a chance to host her own daytime news and discussion program, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show, as well as a role taking part in the network's special political programming and other big event coverage. After news broke of her departure, Kelly took to Facebook to share her thoughts on the transition, noting that she will "greatly miss" her Fox News colleagues but is "delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge." She also addressed the news during Tuesday's broadcast of The Kelly File, explaining that her decision was fueled by a need for more "human connection." "This was a tough decision for me because I love this show, our staff, my crew, my colleagues here at Fox -- and you, all of you," said Kelly, whose last day at Fox is Friday. "Now I don't actually know most of you, so perhaps it's not true love. But it's the kind of feeling that makes one feel connected to another human being," she continued. "And that is after all why I believe we're here: Human connection. The truth is I need more of that in my life, in particular when it comes to my children, who are 7, 5 and 3." (People)
