Fort Huachuca, Arizona -- Our Environmental and Natural Resources Division has partnered with the Arizona Game and Fish Department to conduct aerial surveys for deer and javelina over the next four days.
The surveys are done in an effort to collect baseline population data so ENRD can manage hunting opportunities here while maintaining healthy herd populations on the fort.
The first survey, done from a helicopter, began today at 8 a.m. and concluded at noon. The second survey will be done from an airplane 8 a.m.-noon, Jan. 20, with a third survey being done using a small unmanned aerial vehicle 8 a.m.-noon, Jan. 21 and 22.
If you have questions regarding the surveys please contact ENRD at 520.533.1867.
