Travel Alert: Interchange at Interstate 10 and Riggs Road restricted Jan. 7-8
Alternate routes recommended while weekend resurfacing is taking place
Work to resurface the Interstate 10 interchange at Riggs Road will require freeway ramp closures and other restrictions this weekend. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to consider alternate routes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, and Sunday, Jan. 8.
Interstate 10 will not be restricted and east- and westbound Riggs Road will remain open to traffic at I-10. However, a pilot vehicle and flag crews will guide traffic on Riggs Road through the area one direction at a time. Heavy delays can be expected and drivers should consider alternate routes, including Queen Creek Road (State Route 347) or Casa Blanca Road.
The following ramps will be closed while the weekend pavement improvement work is taking place:
The westbound I-10 off-ramp and eastbound on-ramp at Riggs Road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.
The eastbound I-10 off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at Riggs Road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors.
