ON THIS DAY

On this date in 1713, the city of Baltimore was founded. I never it was lost.

In 1868, Thomas Edison filed for a patent on his invention, the Vote Recorder.
It worked great until years later, when that guy in Florida invented the Chad Hanger.
I don't know who gets credit for how I'm voting. Who invented the coin?
This would explain his frequent use of the phrase, "Let's vote on it!"

On this date in 1910, Theodore Roosevelt became the first U.S. president to fly. Eventually, to avoid suspicion, he switched to using airplanes. Needless to say, afterwards, his arms were very tired.

In 1968, the very first pygmy hippo was born in captivity at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. Zookeepers were so proud, they handed out cigar butts. On this date in 1868, Thomas Edison filed for his first patent, for the Vote Recorder.

TODAY IS

Today's date, 10-11-17, sounds like someone who's not very good at counting.

Golfer Michelle Wie turns 28 today. I bought her video game. Whoever said "There is no Wie in golf" was wrong.

M.C. Lyte turns 47. All the fun of a rapper, without all the calories.

Rodeo cowboy Ty Murray turns 48. He was a 5-time Rodeo World Champion, but he only lasted six years on Jewel. (Did I really just say that?) He prefers to bust a bronc than bust a move.

Jane Krakowski known for "30 Rock" turns 49. Ironically, an actress from "48 Rock" turns 30 today.

Luke Perry used to be known for the numb 9-0-2-1-0. Today, it's the big 5-1. "90210" is now the number of gray whiskers on his face. He's got time to count 'em.

Joan Cusack turns 55 today. Ever notice how much she and John Cusack look alike?

Daryl Hall of "Hall and Oates" fame turns 71 today. The group's new name is "Hall and Fiber." Hall was half of "Hall & Oates" and at harvest time, it's common to think of "haulin' oats."
