Delays possible on Interstate 10, State Route 587 this week as rubberized-asphalt paving continues

A project to improve pavement on Interstate 10 in Pinal County is scheduled to continue during overnight hours this week. Drivers should plan for delays and consider alternate routes while restrictions are in place on I-10 and on the ramps connecting I-10 and State Route 587.

The SR 587 on- and off-ramps at I-10 will be closed intermittently from 7 p.m. Monday, May 7, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 8. Drivers accessing I-10 from north- and southbound SR 587 should plan for 15-minute delays as flaggers direct traffic through the work zone.

I-10 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions approaching the Gila River Bridge to SR 587 from 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 9.

Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane overnight between SR 587 and the Gila River Bridge from 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, to 5 a.m. Thursday, May 10. The westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at SR 587 will be closed intermittently.

Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane overnight approaching the Gila River Bridge to SR 587 from 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, to 6 a.m. Friday, May 11. The eastbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at SR 587 will be closed intermittently.

A 12-foot vehicle-width restriction is in place on the SR 587 on- and off-ramps at I-10.

Alternate routes include Riggs Road or SR 347. Signage will be in place to guide drivers to detour routes.

Rubberized-asphalt paving is occurring in conjunction with the pavement-improvement project on 3 miles of I-10 within the Gila River Indian Community. Learn more on the project web page.
