ON THIS DAY
On this date in 1621, Galileo invented the telescope.
After those college girls moved in next door.
It was his next door neighbor, Mr. O'Reilly who discovered that he had invented it.
The following day, his attractive neighbor invented curtains.
On this date in 1828. Andrew Jackson was elected president of the United States and became the most famous member of the Jackson family. At the time he said, "My only hope is that I can be a good enough president that, some day, you'll put me on the $20 bill" and the rest, as they say, is history.
On this date in 1910, the very first neon light went on display in Paris. Everyone wanted to get a closer look, but unfortunately it was in a neon sign that said, "Closed."
It was on this date in 1964 that police arrested 800 students at the University of California at Berkeley, during a massive "sit in." Apparently, this was in the days before they invented rioting.
On this date in 1988, Barry Sanders of Oklahoma State University won the Heisman Trophy. How about that... and now he's running for president.
Brian Bonsall, that cute little kid from "Family Ties," turns 34 today. 34? Oh, my... it's 2015! TV Land had us convinced it was 1984.
Anna Chlumsky, the little girl from the movie "My Girl" is now 35. Our little girl has grown up.
Brendan Fraser turns 47 today. He's had several successful movies, but owes most of his success to his mummy. Even though he did "George of the Jungle," he still has Mummy issues.
Former Olympic Gold Medal figure skater Katarina Witt turns 50 today. She has since given up skating, but she still has her Witt.
Julianne Moore and Daryl Hannah are both 55 today. A combined 110 years. I'm sure they'd love to hear it that way.
Ozzy Osbourne made it to his 67th birthday. Go figure.
Notice I didn't say "celebrates" his 67th.
Although he only remembers around 24 of those years.
He's way over his quota already.
Would someone please remember to tell him why there are candles on the cake in front of him?
Paul Nicholas, who starred in "Heaven on the 7th Floor," turns 70 today. These days, he's taking the elevator.
A new study claims that worrying can take 5 years off your life. I was worried it was more like 6.
