UPDATE: Paving work continues on westbound I-10 this week
Paving operations will continue on westbound Interstate 10 between Benson and Tucson the remainder of this week through Tuesday (Dec. 8).
The paving work from one mile east of Skyline Road (Exit 299) to one mile east of Marsh Station Road (Exit 291) will require closures of the westbound ramps at both Skyline and Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch interchanges.
The westbound on- and off-ramps at Skyline Road will be closed on Tuesday (Dec. 1) from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The westbound on- and –off ramps at Mescal/J-Six (Exit 297) will be closed on Wednesday (Dec. 2) from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
During the ramp closures, motorists can use eastbound I-10 to enter and exit those restricted areas.
The paving work will be completed in two-mile segments each day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and the posted speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through the area where the highway is reduced to one travel lane.
The work is part of a $15.1 million project to repave approximately 17 miles of I-10 in both directions between Tucson and Benson and replace the westbound I-10 bridge at Davidson Canyon, located approximately 20 miles east of Tucson.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
