The exit and entrance ramps to westbound Interstate 10 at Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch Road in Cochise County will be closed for approximately 12 hours on Thursday (Dec. 3) for paving operations.

The ramps at Exit 297 on westbound I-10 will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday. Motorists can use eastbound I-10 to access Mescal Road and J-Six Ranch Road during the closure.

Paving operations on westbound I-10 will continue between the State Route 90 traffic interchange and Mescal/J-Six the remainder of this week and on Monday (Dec. 7) and Tuesday (Dec. 8).

Motorists can expect delays during peak traffic hours in the area.

The work is part of a $15.1 million project to repave approximately 17 miles of I-10 in both directions between Tucson and Benson and replace the westbound I-10 bridge spanning Davidson Canyon, located 20 miles east of Tucson.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
