The good news: The U.S. is safer today than it was just a few years ago. Since 2010, violent crime has decreased almost 10 percent. Using violent crime data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Uniform Crime Report, 24/7 Wall St. ranked the 10 states with the highest and lowest violent crime rates.
