Improvement projects will require closures or other restrictions along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (Aug. 19-22). For example, northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) will be closed between Chaparral Road and Via De Ventura in the Scottsdale area for rubberized asphalt paving. Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution and consider alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:
Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Chaparral Road and Via De Ventura from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 22) for rubberized asphalt paving. Expect heavy traffic delays. DETOUR: Alternate northbound freeway routes include State Route 51 or Interstate 17. Northbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at Chaparral Road will detour to northbound Pima Road and eastbound Via De Ventura, but expect slow traffic and allow extra travel time. Note: Northbound Loop 101 HOV lane also closed between Via De Ventura and Shea Boulevard.

ADOT plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region. The primary funding source for regional freeway improvements is a half-cent sales tax approved by county voters in 2004.
