Paving work to begin on SR 75 at Gila River Bridge in Duncan on Tuesday

Work to improve 13 miles of highway continues weekdays until mid-October

Paving operations on State Route 75 in Greenlee County will begin Tuesday (Aug. 9) when the Arizona Department of Transportation applies a test strip of asphalt at the Gila River Bridge in Duncan.

Crews will mill a section of roadway in one lane of SR 75 in Duncan starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, followed by paving of that section until approximately 3 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work area where the two-lane highway is reduced to a single lane.

Full paving operations are expected to begin Thursday (Aug. 11) and will continue weekdays from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. The work will start in Duncan and move northward on SR 75.

During paving work, a pilot vehicle will escort motorists through the restricted area during work hours. Delays are not expected to exceed 15 minutes.

The $4.4 million project to improve 13 miles of SR 75 is expected to be complete in October 2016.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
