Six Shooter Canyon sidewalk project near Globe to begin mid-August
The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin work in mid-August to construct a sidewalk alongside Six Shooter Canyon Road near Gila Community College southeast of Globe.
The $265,000 project will begin with survey work, with construction of 2,100 feet of new concrete sidewalk along the southeast side of Six Shooter Canyon Road between Cherokee Drive and Remington Road scheduled to begin Aug. 18.
The new sidewalk will include ramps that meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and drainage improvements that include new curb and gutter along Six Shooter Canyon Road within the project area.
Work on the project will be weekdays from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will require reduced speed limits in and approaching the project area, as well as occasional flagging operations when lane closures are needed on the two-lane roadway.
Motorists are encouraged to obey the reduced speed limit of 25 mph during construction and be alert for construction personnel and activities.
Construction of the sidewalk on the southeast side of the road is expected to be complete in late September 2016.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
