Southbound I-19 restrictions scheduled overnight Tuesday, Thursday of next week

Overnight travel restrictions will be in effect on southbound Interstate 19 at Ajo Way Tuesday, Dec. 13, and Thursday, Dec. 15, while the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work to replace the interchange on Tucson’s southwest side.

The right lane of southbound I-19 and the southbound I-19 on-ramp from Ajo Way will be closed both nights frim 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day. The restrictions will allow crews to deliver girders for the new southbound I-19 on-ramp from Ajo Way.

The work is part of a $40 million project to replace the existing traffic interchange with a modern single-point urban interchange.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
