ADOT Weekend Alert: I-10 West closed near downtown Phoenix, Loop 101 North also closed near Loop 202 in Tempe  
PHOENIX – A closure of westbound I-10 near downtown Phoenix is scheduled this weekend for work in and near the Deck Park Tunnel, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers, including those traveling to the Arizona State Fair, are asked to allow extra travel time and to be prepared to use alternate routes.
Other weekend freeway closures are scheduled this weekend, as ADOT focuses on finishing freeway-improvement work prior to next month’s start of the holiday travel season.
Westbound I-10 will be closed between the I-17 “Split” interchange near Sky Harbor Airport and Seventh Avenue from 10 p.m.Friday (Oct. 23) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26) for Deck Park Tunnel maintenance and improvement work. The southbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound I-10 also will be closed. The westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramp to westbound I-10 will remain open but traffic will exit at Seventh Street and detour along McDowell Road. Westbound I-10 traffic near Sky Harbor will detour north on I-17 and can reconnect with I-10 at the “Stack” interchange north of Van Buren Street.
Other weekend freeway closures in the Phoenix area include: 
  • Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Rio Salado Parkway, near the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway),and McDowell Road from 9 p.m. Friday (Oct. 23) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26) for rubberized asphalt paving as part of the ongoing freeway-widening project in the area. Both Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 closed. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
  • Grand Avenue (US 60) closed between Loop 303 and R.H. Johnson Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26) for bridge work. Traffic can detour along Loop 303 and Bell Road.
  • Southbound I-17 closed overnight at Pioneer Road in north Valley from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 25) for traffic-flow equipment work. Southbound traffic will exit and re-enter the freeway at Pioneer Road.
  • Northbound I-17 closed overnight at State Route 74 (Carefree Highway) from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26) for traffic-flow equipment work. Northbound traffic will exit at SR 74 and use Gavilan Peak Parkway to Pioneer Road to travel beyond the closure.
