Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) Improvement Project

The Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) improvement project in the East Valley will require the following closures or lane restrictions. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following freeway restrictions are in place:

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Gilbert and Higley roads from 10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 16) to 11 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17) roadway striping. Detour: Drivers can use McDowell Road as an alternate route.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Val Vista Drive and McDowell Road from 11 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 19) for roadway striping. Detour: Drivers can use McDowell Road as an alternate route.

Country Club Drive closed at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17) and Sunday (Oct. 18) for bridge work. Detour: Drivers can use McDowell, McKellips and Alma School roads as alternate routes.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to three lanes at Power Road from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 18) for bridge work.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to three lanes between Greenfield Road and Val Vista Drive from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 18) for bridge work.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned freeway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. The Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) improvement project is adding one new general travel lane in each direction between Loop 101 and Gilbert Road and one High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in each direction between Gilbert and Broadway roads.
