ADOT conducting fog seal along SR 260, SR 273 in White Mountains area

Drivers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation will be revitalizing long stretches of State Routes 260 and 273 in the White Mountains region with an oil flush beginning Wednesday, May 9. Drivers heading to the area should prepare for delays while crews work.

ADOT will work along a 17-mile stretch of SR 260 in 5- to 7-mile segments beginning at milepost 361 from Wednesday through Friday. Starting Monday, May 14, crews will seal a 20-mile stretch of SR 273 in segments beginning at milepost 377.

In each situation, one lane will be closed and workers will flag traffic through the work zone using a pilot car. Drivers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes while work is occurring.

Work will take place each day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. All sections of both highways are anticipated to be completed before the end of next week.

Fog sealing is a process by which crews apply oil to restore flexibility to a road surface, helping extend its life.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at az511.gov or call 511.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors. For more information, please call the ADOT Project Information Line at 855.712.8530 or email Projects@azdot.gov. For real-time highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT's Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except when driving.
