Union Hills Drive underpass closed at I-17 this weekend for work on wrong-way vehicle detection project
Union Hills Drive will be closed in both directions at Interstate 17 for part of this weekend as crews continue to install a pilot wrong-way vehicle detection and warning system along the freeway.
The work will close Union Hills Drive at I-17 from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. The northbound I-17 off-ramp at Union Hills Drive will also be closed.
Traffic on Union Hills Drive approaching I-17 will be required to make right turns onto the frontage road. Drivers should plan on extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including Bell Road or Yorkshire Drive/Utopia Road.
The southbound I-17 off-ramp at Thunderbird Road will also be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct 21, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, for this project. Drivers should consider alternate routes.
