Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) Improvement Project

The Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) improvement project in the East Valley will require the following closures or lane restrictions. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following freeway restrictions are in place:

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Gilbert and Dobson roads from 10 p.m. Friday (Sept. 25) to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 28) for rubberized asphalt paving. Detour: Drivers can use McKellips Road and Rio Salado Parkway as alternate routes.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Gilbert and Power roads from 10 p.m. Monday (Sept. 28) to 7 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 29) for rubberized asphalt paving.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane between McDowell and Higley roads from 10 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 29) to 7 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 30) for rubberized asphalt paving.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Gilbert and Greenfield roads from 10 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 30) to 7 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 1) for rubberized asphalt paving.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Val Vista Drive and Power Road from 10 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 1) to 7 a.m. Friday (Oct. 2) for rubberized asphalt paving.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Dobson and Gilbert roads from 10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 2) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for rubberized asphalt paving. Detour: Drivers can use McKellips Road and University Drive as alternate routes.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Power Road and Val Vista Drive from 8 p.m. Monday (Oct. 5) to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 6) for paving operations.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Greenfield and Gilbert roads from 8 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 6) to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 7) for rubberized asphalt paving.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned freeway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. The Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) improvement project is adding one new general travel lane in each direction between Loop 101 and Gilbert Road and one High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in each direction between Gilbert and Broadway roads.
