UPDATE: Paving work on I-19 in Nogales

Northbound Interstate 19, just north of Western Avenue (milepost 1.8/kilometer 2.9) to Business Route 19 (Grand Avenue) (milepost 6) in Nogales will be reduced to one lane Friday (Oct. 2) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for pavement work (instead of Wednesday, Sept. 30 as previously advertised).

  • The ramps at State Route 189 (Mariposa Road) and Grand Avenue will be closed intermittently throughout the daytime hours during the work.
  • I-19 will be open in both directions Wednesday (Sept. 30) and Thursday (Oct. 1).
  • Message boards and law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph in the work zone.

The work is part of the Arizona Department of Transportation’s pavement improvement and bridge repair project on Interstate 19 in Nogales, from the international border to B-19 junction (kilometers 0.5 to 9.8/mileposts 0.3 to 6.08).

Drivers are reminded to share the road, be cautious, and slow down while traveling through the work zone.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
