Academy Unveils "We All Dream in Gold" Oscars Theme While Chris Rock Gears Up for Hosting Gig. Now that the Golden Globes are behind us we can focus on what lies ahead: the Oscars. Chris Rock will be hosting the 2016 Academy Awards and is gearing up for them the only way one should: by pretending he's an athlete. The Academy released two new promos for the awards show, one of which reveals the theme for this year's show, "We All Dream in Gold," and the other shows the host getting amped for what basically can be described as prom night for A-listers. The "We All Dream in Gold" promo shows clips from this year's biggest hits (and likely contenders) -- official nominations will be announced Thursday -- and has Morgan Freeman narrating what many characters dream about. The one dream they all have in common, however, is Oscars night, where they all hope for the gold statue. Featuring footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Joy, The Martian, Steve Jobs and more, the promo highlights the glamour of the evening while maintaining a certain level of emotion that only Freeman could bring with his deep, soothing voice. In the second clip, Rock uses chalk powder to get his clammy hands ready and declares, "Let's do this." The promos made their debut on Good Morning America Tuesday morning. John Krasinski, Ang Lee, Guillermo Del Toro, and Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs will announce the nominations. The 88th Academy Awards will air on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 28. (Eonline)
Kendall Jenner's New Year's resolution? To show how much she doesn't need a New Year's resolution. The 20-year-old stepped out for dinner at West Hollywood hotspot The Nice Guy on Monday along with her big sister Kourtney Kardashian and friend Hailey Baldwin. Jenner showed off her toned stomach in a gray, crop top with black, low-cut pants. The long-sleeve shirt hit just above the model's waist, emphasizing Jenner's famously flat abs. She topped off the look with a pair of snake-skin heels and a black bag with her dark tresses hanging loosely. Jenner's older sister also had her belly on display during the outing, donning a sheer top with a visible black bra underneath. She topped it all off with a black blazer and pants. A fit physique isn't the only thing Jenner has to show off these days. The 20-year-old is rumored to have a new beau: Harry Styles. Dating rumors began to circulate after cameras caught the two kissing on a yacht during a New Year's vacation to the Caribbean. While Jenner has kept the rumored romance under wraps, her sister KhloĆØ Kardashian recently revealed that the model and the One Direction singer are "dating." "They were hanging out together. Do I think they're dating? Yes. I don't know if they're, like, boyfriend-girlfriend. Nowadays, I don't know, people are weird with stuff. So I don't know their 'title,' " Kardashian told Entertainment Tonight, using air quotes. "But, I mean, they were in St. Barts together hanging out, so, to me, that's dating. I would call that dating." (People)
Condola Rashad -- who plays a federal prosecutor in Showtime's forthcoming series "Billions" and grew up with Hollywood actress mom Phylicia Rashad -- admits about the financial drama, "This is a very new world for me. Luckily, my sister is an attorney, so she was my go-to." Rashad also told us, "Actually, it's so funny, because when I got the role, she was like, 'This is the craziest thing. You're literally acting as a role the job that I want.'" Rashad was nominated for a Tony in 2012 for "Stick Fly." (Page Six)
Courtney Love is going strong with "Arbitrage" director Nicholas Jarecki. Love and her 15-years-younger beau were spotted grabbing dinner with a female pal at Beauty & Essex on Friday. We're told the group arrived at 10:45 p.m. for oysters and empanadas. Page Six exclusively revealed their romance in December, when sources told us the pair met in November through a pal and had been dating ever since. They've also hit parties together for awards films "The Hateful Eight" and "The Danish Girl." (Page Six)
Looks like 2016 has gotten off to a stressful start for Khloe Kardashian who shared a cryptic quote, late on Monday, January 11, about the dangers of trying to fix a broken person. In what has become a predictable habit for the sensitive Kardashian, the 31-year-old reality star gave fans something to ponder over with the publication of her latest thought-provoking quote. "A girl once told me to be careful when trying to fix a broken person," she shared in her Instagram post. "For you may cut yourself on their shattered pieces." Followers immediately started speculating about who the subject of the cryptic message might be -- with some suspecting her estranged husband, Lamar Odom, to be the person in question, whist others thought it was more likely relating to her brother, Rob Kardashian. Both men in Khloe's life are facing their own personal struggles. Odom, 36, continues his recovery after his very public hospitalization back in October last year, and her brother Rob, 28, is facing his own demons related to confidence and weight gain, in addition to his recent diabetes diagnosis. Khloe has spent a lot of time and effort trying to help her brother. She revealed recently that one of her methods has been trying to encourage him to get fit again. "I told Rob a while back: the best form of revenge is a good body," she explained during a blog post last week. "It's a little silly but true. There is literally no downfall to working out your blues in the gym! You'll feel better, and the by-product will be a fierce bod that's bound to make your ex do a double-take." (US Weekly)
Bradley Cooper has been spotted in a beaded mecklace - that's a male necklace to you and I - sparking a discussion at GLAMOUR HQ about whether this may be a hot new trend. Photographed at LAX, a handsome-as-ever Bradders looked cheerful while getting ready to board a flight, and was sporting an all-blue ensemble with a baseball cap and sunglasses... but it's not the sunglasses, clothes or hat we've really been looking at. We just can't seem to tear our eyes away from his bold beaded floral necklace. One member of staff has even since commented that he looks like a Dad who had just gone wild at the airport gift shop after a holiday, and couldn't resist a final accessory. In short, we're unconvinced by this style. It's a new look for Bradley, and one we could totally support (necklaces can, of course, look brilliant on both women and men) if his mecklace of choice wasn't so, ur, naff? Don't worry Mr Cooper, we still love you (regardless of your questionable neckwear). (British Glamour)
Miley Cyrus' baby sister Noah's 16th birthday was not so sweet ... because it was ripped straight from "American Horror Story: Freak Show." It all went down at Beacher's Madhouse at the Roosevelt Hotel where Noah mingled with 'AHS' themed characters like the bearded lady, little people with lobster hands and of course ... Twisty, the murdering clown. Noah had Miley sing 'Happy Birthday' while older sister Brandi spun tunes. The best part -- instead of goody bags, all guests got hair and makeup done by celebrity favorite glam squad be Glammed. Who we kidding? Twisty was the best part. (TMZ)
Morgan Freeman may have the sexiest voice on two sides of the Atlantic! On Monday's The Late Late Show, James Corden informed the Shawshank Redemption star of a UK poll which had named him the sexiest American voice. Well, we don't disagree with that one! But is it the sort of sexiness the Oscar winner can teach?? James' other guest Zooey Deschanel was able to pick up some tips to improve her "husky, sexy voice" -- but the throat exercises didn't work so well for the comedian. And whatever Tim Roth said didn't even sound like English. LOLz! (Perez Hilton)
The Playboy Mansion may not be leveled for a brand new mansion after it's sold, because we've learned Hugh Hefner himself commissioned plans to expand the crib and bring it up to date. Sources connected to the property tell us, there are plans to expand and restore the 20,000 square foot mansion, which was built in 1927. We're told Hef had the idea of doing it himself but the years caught up with him and he never went through with it. Our sources say the plans call for expanding the property to around 35,000 square feet, which would be an appropriate size for the main house on 6 acres of prime real estate in Holmby Hills. We're told the property -- listed jointly by The Agency and Hilton & Hyland -- is NOT being marketed as a teardown. The woodwork throughout the house is magnificent, the living room and foyer are incredible and the architecture spectacular. As for the pricing -- $200 million -- although it's high for sure, some real estate experts say the land alone could be worth $90 mil, and the house is historic and awesome. So, who knows? (TMZ)
Look Inside the White House Flower Shop, Speechwriter's Office and More Private Presidential Spots. Thanks to the magic of television, Americans are finally getting a virtual tour of some of the most private presidential spots on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue just in time for President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address. During an exclusive episode of Today set entirely within the iconic home, the co-hosts of the morning news program took us inside some of the most personal rooms within the people's house, including the flower shop, Director of Speechwriting Cody Keenan's cramped but quaint office and even the presidential basketball court. First stop -- like any other presidential occasion, flowers in order for last night's momentous occasion, and who better to lead the way down to the fragrant basement gem than former first daughter, Jenna Bush Hager. Overseen by the White House's first female chief usher Angella Reed, the shop's staff prepares floral arrangements for every official occasion, including state dinners and inaugurations. During such events, President Obama delivers remarks -- often moving, powerful and at times, legendary. The man behind such prose is Keenan, a former intern on Obama's initial presidential campaign who rose up in the ranks nearly a decade since the president's election. In collaboration with the Commander-in-Chief, the curly-haired wordsmith pens thousands of words for the president to later perform in a windowless basement office where, according to Keenan, "the magic happens." While Keenan and Reed are hard at work at their respective spaces, viewers were also gifted with rare glimpses of where the first family can unwind after a trying day. While Matt Lauer shot hoops on the basketball court, Al Roker cozied up in the White House theater, which was originally a coat room that former president Franklin Roosevelt converted during his presidency. We only wish we had a theater as plush as that one to watch the president's last State of the Union address, but we guess our ordinary couch will just have to do. (Eonline)
