ON THIS DAY
On this date in 1770, the very first shipment of rhubarb arrived in the U.S. It was sent by Benjamin Franklin from England. Until that time, when an argument broke out at a baseball game, no one knew what to call it.
In 1805, the Michigan Territory was created. Now, the only thing left to do was to figure out which part would be Wolverine and which Spartan.
Milk is delivered in bottles for the first time in 1878.

On this date in 1949, three inches of snow fell in Los Angeles.
- If you thought they couldn't drive in rain, imagine what snow did to the commute.
- Most people thought that it was just cold enough for the smog to freeze.
- All the "It'll be a cold day in hell" things happened that day.
- Kids immediately went outside and built a smog man. Needless to say, everyone had to take extra blankets to the beach that day.

Ben Crenshaw turns 64 today. That's the former professional golfer, not the presidential candidate.
Naomi Judd turns the big 7-0 today. She gave us Ashley Judd, for whom we shall forever be grateful. She was once half of the country duet, "The Judds." Since those days, daughter Wynona has put on so many pounds, Naomi's now only a third of the Judds.
