TOP TEN PASSION KILLERS
What used to be called the seven-year itch is now the three-year glitch. Why? Couples' passion begins to noticeably cool after just three years of marriage, The Daily Mail reports of a survey of 2,000 adults conducted in Great Britain. The top 10 passion-killers:
- Weight gain or lack of exercise
- Lack of money
- Longer working hours
- Hygiene issues
- Overexposure to the in-laws
- Lack of romance and sex
- Drinking too much alcohol
- Snoring
- No more sexy lingerie
- Toenail clippings left on the bathroom floor
In other words: real life. As couples become more annoyed with each other, they spend less time having sex. Specifically, 52% of newlyweds reported having sex at least three times a week, compared to just 16% who were still having sex that frequently on their third anniversary. More than half admitted they have to schedule romantic time together. One way couples are compensating is to take solo weekends and vacations away from each other and their marriages in an attempt to revive the romantic spark. What can couples do to keep the romance alive and ignore the toenail clippings? Realize love and marriage are work. Take time to spoil your partner, doing loving things for him or her. Talk frequently and have sex -- a lot.
