Utility work scheduled on westbound Ajo Way at I-19 on Monday
Utility work will require a lane closure on westbound Ajo Way approaching Interstate 19 on Monday (Jan. 11).
The right lane of westbound on Ajo Way (State Route 86) will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.between 16th Avenue and Kostka Drive.
The utility work is in advance of a $40 million project to replace the traffic interchange at I-19 and Ajo Way. That project is scheduled to go into construction in the spring.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
