I-19 work begins in Tumacacori south of Tucson

Traffic on Interstate 19 will be stopped intermittently in both directions near Tumacacori (milepost 18/kilometer 29) beginning Wednesday (Sept. 9) to Friday (Sept. 11) from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for milling and setting barrier.

The work is to allow the Arizona Department of Transportation to resurface pavement on I-19 from Palo Parado Road to Tubac (mileposts 16 - 21/kilometers 25 - 34) and replace the bridge barriers and deck joints at the north- and southbound Tumacacori and Arroyo Angulo Agudo bridges.

The work also includes removing the existing bridge railing and replacing it with concrete bridge barrier.

The $4.1 million improvement project is expected to be completed by spring 2016.

For more information about this project, please call Paki Rico at 520-388-4233, or email prico@azdot.gov.
