Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) Improvement Project

The Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) improvement project in the East Valley will require the following closures or lane restrictions. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following freeway restrictions are in place:

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Loop 101 and Country Club Drive from 10 p.m. Friday (Sept. 18) to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 21) for rubberized asphalt paving.

Loop 101 connecting ramps to eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed from 10 p.m. Friday (Sept. 18) to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 21) for rubberized asphalt paving. Detour: Drivers can use McDowell Road, Rio Salado Parkway, and University Drive as alternate routes.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned freeway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511.

The Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) improvement project is adding one new general travel lane in each direction between Loop 101 and Gilbert Road and one High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in each direction between Gilbert and Broadway roads. The entire project is scheduled for completion in spring 2016. For more information, including all traffic alerts about this project please call 855.712.8530 or email projects@azdot.gov
