Paving on State Route 80 near Bisbee to continue through the weekend
Paving operations on State Route 80 west of Bisbee will continue through the weekend as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work to improve the highway between the junction with State Route 90 and the Mule Pass Tunnel.
Daily paving operations will continue this week, with work also scheduled on Saturday (Sept. 19) andSunday (Sept. 20). Work hours will be from 4 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day.
Motorists traveling through the work area can expect delays of up to 15 minutes while an escort vehicle guides traffic through two-mile areas where the highway is reduced to a single lane.
Paving work on SR 80 is expected to be complete by Friday (Sept. 25), with paving work on intersecting street turnouts and some drainage improvements to follow.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
