ON THIS DAY
On this date in 1796, General Moses Cleaveland founded a city... Cleveland, Ohio.
Nothing like honoring you with a city name but misspelling your name.
It was named after that nearby formation, Cleveland Rocks.
Friends say he was quite cavalier.
Cleveland is actually a native American word that means, "We want LeBron back!"
In 1893, college professor Katharine Lee Bates wrote the original version of her poem "America The Beautiful" in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after being inspired by the view of Pikes Peak and having some amber grain wave at her.
On this date in 1934, John Dillinger was shot to death by federal agents outside of a Chicago theater.
To make matters worse, it was a lousy movie.
One of the officers was quoted as saying, "Oh, good, it is John Dillinger. Whew! For a moment there, I thought we had shot Johnny Depp!"
