Mail Survey
A random scientific sample of 2,200 households will receive invitations via mail to participate and their responses will be weighted and analyzed. If you receive a mail survey, please complete it as you are one of a small number of households being surveyed in this random sample. Additionally, you only need to complete the survey once; mail survey recipients do not need to complete the online survey.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will be done with the results?
The results of the survey will be presented to County elected officials and County departments in December of 2016. This information will assist in strengthening service delivery and the budget process in Maricopa County.

How long will the survey be available to take?
The survey is available online from beginning October 24th through November 16th of 2016.

Should everyone in the house take the survey together or should we each take it?
The survey can be taken by each adult member (age 18+) of the household or by all members speaking in one voice. The choice is yours. Since different members are likely to experience the community differently, it may be best for you each to take it so that your unique perspectives are captured.

Can my child take the survey?
The survey is intended to be taken by any resident of the community who is 18 years old or older.

Can I take the survey on my cell phone?
Yes, if you have access to the internet on your cell phone, the survey is provided in a mobile friendly format.

What if I don’t have Internet access?
We recommend that you go to one of the City’s/County’s public libraries or a neighbor’s house to take the survey online.

Can you track my responses?
No. The City/County has no interest in identifying specific respondents. The survey has been set up so that no identifying information is captured. In addition all responses are kept by the independent firm, National Research Center, Inc., who takes seriously the promise of anonymity in the survey research industry and ensures that all responses submitted are anonymous and cannot be tracked to any individual member of a community.

Are you going to sell my information?
Absolutely not.

If I start the survey, do I have to complete it during the same session/can I finish it later?
As you progress through the survey, your responses will be saved on your computer in a “cookie” (provided you have cookies enabled). You can leave and come back to the survey to finish it later. If more than one member of your household intends to complete the survey from the same computer, we recommend you complete and submit your responses before the next person starts their survey.

Why is “Hispanic” separate from “Race”?
We want to compare the demographic profile of those responding the survey to the demographic profile of the community as presented by the Census. In order to be able to do this we asked our race and ethnicity question the same way the Census does. The Census designates Hispanic as an ethnicity, not a race, hence it appears as its own question. Please be sure to answer both the Hispanic and race questions! This ensures we have the most complete information about everyone who responds to the survey. Your responses are anonymous and will be reported in group form only, so there is no way for us to know who you are and you cannot be identified individually.

I doubt that you are interested in my opinion, since I rarely leave my [nursing] home. Should I really complete the survey?
Yes, the government is here to serve all residents, and it is important to us that we get feedback from a complete cross-section of our residents.
