Travel restrictions set for westbound Ajo Way approaching I-19 next week

Motorists traveling westbound on Ajo Way near Interstate 19 in Tucson will encounter travel restrictions next week while the Arizona Department of Transportation installs concrete construction barrier between 16th Avenue and the interstate.

The right lane of westbound Ajo Way (State Route 86) will be closed daily from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, throughWednesday, Nov. 2.

The work is part of a project to replace the traffic interchange at I-19 and Ajo Way and widen a segment of Ajo Way in the project area.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway closures and restrictions statewide, visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow us on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.

For more information about this project, please call C.T. Revere, ADOT Senior Community Relations Officer, at1.520.705.3574 or email at crevere@azdot.gov.
