Maintenance work scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday on SR 89 south of Yarnell

Southbound lanes will be closed; traffic will shift onto northbound lanes during work hours

Arizona Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to clean up the shoulders and ditches on State Route 89 this week, requiring a full closure of southbound lanes. The northbound lanes will be used for two-way traffic while work is underway.

Work is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, and Wednesday, Nov. 2, on SR 89 between Yarnell and Congress.Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destinations. A flagging operation will be in place with clearly marked detour signage, and drivers are encouraged to adhere to reduced speed limits through active work zone.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.
