Work will require overnight closure of the southbound off-ramp at Coldwater Road, Tuesday, Nov. 1

Arizona Department of Transportation crews this week will begin paving work on Interstate 17 in conjunction with a project that began over the summer on 13 miles of the interstate north of Phoenix.
Crews will begin paving on southbound I-17 at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Coldwater Canyon Road off-ramp. The southbound off-ramp will be closed during work hours.

Overnight work will continue on southbound I-17 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, and Thursday, Nov. 3. Paving work is expected to continue on southbound I-17 through Dec. 29 and alternating lane restrictions are expected during the overnight work hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

ADOT began work over the summer on northbound and southbound I-17 between New River and Coldwater roads (mileposts 232 to 244). The project included minor bridge repair on 13 bridge structures and repaving of the roadway.
Until now, drivers have most likely seen bridge barrier and slower speeds through the work zones where crews were improving bridge barriers and making other minor repairs.

Drivers should observe the reduced speed limit of 55 mph in the active work zones.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.
