Improvement projects will require a few closures along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (July 15-18)

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place:
Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between McKellips and Chaparral roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m.Monday (July 18) for widening project work, including bridge deck joint installation and final lane striping. Both ramps from Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 closed. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Rio Salado Parkway closed. Northbound Loop 101 ramps to Loop 202 will be open but expect heavy traffic backups.
DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including northbound State Route 51, to avoid longest delays. Alternate freeway routes include westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) to westbound Interstate 10 to reach northbound I-17 or SR 51. Northbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at McKellips Road will detour to northbound Hayden Road and eastbound McDonald Drive.
Additional freeway-restriction information will be posted at azdot.gov, under ADOT News. Visit the site to also subscribe to ADOT email updates, including weekend restriction information.
For a complete list of highway and freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area and around the state, visit ADOT’s Travel Information site at az511.gov or call 511. ADOT plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region. The primary funding source for regional freeway improvements is a half-cent sales tax approved by county voters in 2004. More information about ADOT projects and the regional plan is available atazdot.gov/PhoenixMetro.
