Interstate 19 ramp closures scheduled in Tucson overnight Thursday
Motorists traveling on Interstate 19 in Tucson will encounter overnight ramp closures late Thursday and early Friday of this week while crews remove overhead signs.
The following restrictions are scheduled at the southwest side location:
- The southbound I-19 off ramp at Irvington Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday (July 14) until 5 a.m. Friday (July 15).
- The northbound I-19 off ramp at Ajo Way will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday (July 14) until 5 a.m.Friday (July 15).
The work is part of a $41 million improvement project to replace the existing partial cloverleaf interchange on Tucson’s southwest side with a modern single-point urban interchange. The project also includes widening Ajo Way between 16th Avenue and Holiday Isle Boulevard.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
